We love Dave’s Fresh—admittedly have discovered far too late into our time living in Somerville. When we moved here several years ago, my husbands best friends recommended it as a regular spot for them. I had one of their delicious sandwiches at a friend’s baby shower a couple years ago, but we had a couple local restaurants we always enjoyed for dinner—so we weren’t looking for anything new. Then one day I came home and my husband had gotten us a pound of the garlic and chive pasta with one of their sauces imported from Italy. Just wow! It was fantastic! Since then, we’ve made Dave’s an every-other-week part of our routine. We love the garlic/chive, spinach, and herb pastas, and now like to get their homemade sauce (eggplant or tomato basil are our favorites). I’ve picked up their sandwiches and focaccia (the barbecue chicken one) for lunch as well. Everything we’ve purchased has been fantastic. Last quick shoutout for carrying Ravenous Ice Cream—our favorite (free of gums and preservatives, and so creamy). Despite exclusively using Comic Sans in their branding, these guys have incredible taste.

Unassuming from the street, this place is an absolute gem and I always discover something else amazing about it each time I go. First and foremost, the fresh pasta and sauces are incredible. Couldn't be easier or more delicious to grab ingredients for a meal here that's both quick and gourmet level.

I love to cook and I deeply appreciate their amazing selection of fresh ingredients in small amounts- pancetta, guanciale, duck confit, herbs, fresh cheeses, you name it. So rare to find a place that lets you buy just enough for your recipe.

Some of the stuff is a splurge, but they also have some great buys. Their homemade chicken and mushroom stocks are delicious and incredibly cheap- $3-4 for a big quart of the good stuff.

They have a shockingly excellent selection of obscure wines with helpful staff to advise your picks. They also recently started stocking Jeni's, the best store bought ice cream ever!
