Oye - My partner and I really wanted this place to be good, but after eating there last night, it left a LOT to be desired. We don't go out often, so when we do, it's a much needed date night. We decided to try Savor for the first time:
PROS: The front desk man was very nice, and allowed us to make a last minute reservation. He also sat us pretty much immediately upon arrival. The restaurant is really cute, with exposed brick, and an in-wall fireplace. Everything was very clean and elegantly set. We ordered the calamari for our appetizer, which was pretty delicious, but the portion was really dainty for $18 (I'll leave it in the pro column because it was tasty). We also ordered the molten lava cake for dessert, which came with probably the best vanilla ice cream I've ever had. The waiter was polite and attentive.
CONS: Overall, the portions and quality of food vs. price did not seem to really align - This was my biggest problem. The bread that came over to the table was warm but chewy, like it has been microwaved or steamed. Very weird... As mentioned prior, the calamari was $18.00 and I think we had more mixed greens on our plate than anything else. I ordered a dinner portion of the savor salad, which was small - I can't imagine the lunch size of that salad being any smaller. The salad was $15.00 with no salmon, chicken, shrimp - Which to me seems excessive. But, the worst of all - My partner orders the seafood special, which was mussels, clams, salmon and sausage over pasta - A whopping $35 (we didn't know the price until the bill came). I honestly can't remember the last time we paid that much for one plate, but we would not have minded if the food was great. But, it wasn't. The pasta was overcooked and chewy, definitely not al dente. I don't think I've seen mussels and clams with such minuscule meat - and it was GRITTY. The seafood was not properly cleaned, and while you might expect that amount of grit from a 2-3 star restaurant, that should not have been the case for this one, and occurring in nearly every bite. I told my partner to send it back but he didn't want to cause a fuss, so that's on him - But really? This is what you offer for $35?! YUCK.
This place is ONLY getting 3 stars because of the people. Otherwise, everything was just too average for the prices. Don't think we will be...
Read moreI have selected this restaurant to try out the kitchen for a birthday party we are planning in winter. We loved the food, and looked at the rooms - perfect for different sizes of groups. We tried mussels and garlic shrimps for appetizers. Mussels were average, and shrimp very good, and kids approved) Then salads roasted pear and main street were fresh, and the dressings interesting (in a good way). We liked the roasted pear better, I would say it is a must to try here. French onion soup was good, but not the best I tried (though for Italian restaurant, I can say I was impressed). From main courses we tried wild mushroom ravioli (simply amazing!!!), zuppa di pesce over linguini is perfect - shrimps big and juicy, clams, mussels, pasta - perfect al dente. I would like to separately mention steak (medium), soft, juicy - great meat for everyone including kids or elderly, accompanied by potatoes and veggies not soft, mildly crunchy. Cod was better than average, and salmon was very good! When it came to deserts, we were pretty full, but share 4 to have an opinion. Apple cake is ok (I am not a fan of apple cakes, honestly. Lava cake - average. Tiramisu - waaay to sweet. Tres leches was a total hit! Honestly the best one I have ever tried (and generally I am more of a tiramisu and creme brule person. Overall, one of the best Italian restaurants I...
Read moreSavor is our favorite restaurant! We have been here numerous times over the years, for both regular dinners and special occasions, and it is consistently amazing each time. Recently we had my son’s confirmation luncheon here and they did not disappoint! From the time we walked in the door, the hostess was very warm and attentive. They allowed us to bring our own cake (which I was very happy about) and she even setup an extra table to keep it on display for us during our meal. She was also super sweet when I asked her to take a couple of pictures for us. The food was incredible! We ordered several different appetizers, salads, and a wide variety of main entrees. Everyone was raving about the food (and we are a very picky Italian family). It was absolutely delicious! Everything came out perfect and exactly how we ordered it. The waiter was very professional and did not rush us at all, which was greatly appreciated since it was a special occasion. He even set up our BYOB wine. I highly recommend Savor to anyone looking for a good Italian restaurant with wonderful staff, great ambience and INCREDIBLE food! We look forward to...
