Shame on this restaurant!!!! Be careful all the tourist!! !! We were here on vacation and had a group of 6 having dinner here. We ordered a 2-person Fajitas ($40) and two 2-person Mocajete (&48 each), four cokes for drink, and one additional Tortillas. When I asked for the check, first of all they did not print you one but gave you a written one with really bad handwriting. But this is OK as I understand local restaurants, I can roughly read it although not everything(below is the receipt). If you do the math for what I ordered, let’s assume the coke is $5 each, and tortillas is $5, the total price before tax is 40+48+48+20+5=$161. But when they give me the check, it is more than $210, which probably means they have automatically collected the tip(and it is a percentage if roughly 18%). But they never told me, so instead, on top of $210 I gave them additional $40 dollars of tips. I don’t give them a lot of tips because the service is horrible, I asked the waiters three times for straws and napkins until they finally gave them to me. The waiter is a male weather a mask with teeth (same one check out for me) This is not how you do business, please at least be honest! I’ve already left the Yosemite area, but anyone actually works in this restaurant. if you are decent people and think this is a mistake. Contact me and give me my money back.

5 Stars – Authentic Mexican Delight in Grooveland on the Way to Yosemite! We stopped by Cocina Michoacana in Groveland while heading to Yosemite National Park, and it turned out to be a perfect surprise! The food was absolutely delicious — We had the grilled chicken with green salsa, served with flavorful rice for my 3 year old kid and Pork & Chicken Burrito for us. Everything was well-seasoned and cooked just right. The ambiance is cozy and welcoming, and the staff was friendly and attentive. It's the ideal stop for a hearty, authentic Mexican meal before or after your Yosemite adventure. Highly recommend this spot — we’ll definitely be back next time!

Stopped by for a quick to-go order on the way to Yosemite. There is a to-go window you can order from inside, along with a few tables for dine in as well past the window. They also do have a bathroom in the back, which is nice. We ordered the areial style supremo burrito with beef. I didn't know it was actually a wet burrito until opening the box, but it was still good! There was a decent kick or spiciness, but I would still rank it as a solid mild. There was a good amount of fried jalapeños, which was nice. I do wish there was slightly more meat and a larger burrito. It also came with chips and salsa on the side.

So honestly I don’t usually write reviews (sorry) but I had to for this one. We were overcharged, food was AMAZING!! Being Mexican myself I was really happy about the food. On food alone I would give it 5 stars!

Service was ok, and I say this because we came in as a family of 14. Yes we were a lot, but given that this seemed like the only Mexican spot to eat at we assumed they would be ready.

I have never experienced an atmosphere so racist in my life. (We are Mexican Americans, but you can definitely tell we’re Mexican as we speak Spanglish). When I say EVERY SINGLE table was either staring at us, (and mind you each table was separate from the other which means they didn’t know each other, which was so weird to me). One table turned their whole seat over to stare at us. The other table was staring at us non stop, the lady legit looked like she was looking at aliens or something. Another party walked in and the man passing out table up says “oh look that’s a lot of beans” and I honestly thought I misheard and that changed quickly as the dinner went on.

The sad part was, the whole restaurant AND I MEAN THE WHOLE RESTAURANT (only seats about 30 people) were staring and being so uncomfortable, and the staff, that was Mexican seemed as if they were a bit off by us as well!

I write this to say, if you are a person of color Or not white, be careful coming here. I’ve never experienced this before, but I can’t imagine if we had been black (I say this because I feel as if they would have been worse). We were a party of 14 so I’m sure they held back a bit. I probably wouldn’t come here again not because the food isn’t good, but because I felt so uncomfortable eating, and these people were all diff. People with no knowledge of each other it made me feel scared not gonna lie. I didn’t mention anything to the staff her to my family while we were there because I didn’t wanna cause a scene or make things worse, so I decided to let it go.

It wasn’t until we got to the car and talking to the rest of my siblings that I realize that they had heard the same things too. Growing up coming to Yosemite all the time used to be so amazing!! I felt so...

The food was okay, the service was decent-- the only problem was towards the end of our visit. Our group of six came in and ordered our food, we ordered two horchatas and one coke. When we were given the check, first of all, NOTHING is labeled on the actual receipt, you have to just hope you were charged right. We almost did that until we noticed too many $3.50 charges on our check. We were charged for 5 drinks instead of just 3. The waiter could have easily verified that by looking over to our table to see that we only had 3 big cups. (What are we gonna do? Hide the other two cups? Where?). We came up to the register since they were taking a long time to pick up the check, and then we had to wait more to actually talk to the waiter about the mishap (our group was convinced it was just an honest mistake). Once we got to talk to the waiter and explained that we only ordered 2 horchatas and one coke, he took off ONE drink. He seemed upset when we asked for the receipt the second time around. Asking for the receipt the second time around was actually the best idea since that's how we noticed that he still charged us for an extra drink. We normally wouldn't really mind little mistakes like these, but this place doesn't only automatically charge you gratuity (18% of your total), it also charges you 4% for any card payments. These additional drinks didn't only pull their weight, but the weight of the automatic tip, tax, AND the 4% card payment. So it wouldn't just be $7 extra to spend. When the waiter was confronted again he put on some real attitude for HIS mistake and just gave back the $3.50. At this point we didn't care about getting the equal refund that would've included the lower tip and lower tax. We just wanted to leave. It was so uncomfortable and it ruined the good time...
