When you are walking into perhaps the only coffee shop in a small town, you don't expect much. You're happy if you can just get a good cup of coffee. Top of the Trail is absolutely not that.
Yes, there's a wide variety of things to order, which can be both good and bad. What you don't want is not being great at anything. But also, given this is the only coffee shop, it does have to cater to more than beverages.
First, the coffee is great. We had the Italian Roast. Solid beans and was quite bold. Again, enjoyed this. But there were also bagels, cereal, and everything that we needed breakfast for.
Now the true highlight of this shop is the 2nd floor. Make sure you go early and grab a cup of coffee in their insanely quirky, trippy, and classy coffee "room". There are these leather chairs along with unique pop-culture decor, including some historical. Again, tough to pin-point a particular style. But it absolutely elevates your breakfast.
If you are driving by Groveland, you must stop by. And the lady behind the counter...
Read moreSecond time here. First experience was fine, service was friendly and the coffee was nice. Today, service was incredibly unwelcoming, and the coffee (got the same drink I did last time) was trash, and it seems they've raised the prices sky high. I'd put them a step below Starbucks (avid Starbucks avoider) although Starbucks would have saved me a couple dollars. I have no real idea how the same drink can vary so much from one day to another (I was a barista myself) the only thing that I can think of - is that the last time I was in, I came with a friend who was a regular. Disappointed because I also brought a friend in because I was so pleased with this place before. Quality of service and quality of the product today means I will not be coming back and I will recommend my friends spend their money somewhere else. Of all the local coffee shops, this one is probably the worst. Go literally anywhere else for your caffeine...
Read moreWe came to order coffee and ended up leaving gradually along with 3 other parties. The worker was too busy conversating to a current customer and just appears to really not care so much in focusing in getting the orders done (from my perspective along with 3 other parties that just left). My buddy just said, "let's just go to the supermarket down the street and get our coffee" and indeed, there was self-serve coffee without the wait all the conversations.
I've been to other coffee shops, when there is a line of customers, the staff would say, "Good morning, we'll be with you..." to something like that. There's an acknowledgement letting the customer know that there's a line and the staff is working in taking the orders and prepping it unlike the experience we had along with 3 other parties at FireFall Coffee.
I hope this is not how FireFall Coffee's customer service is...
