Northbound seems to be hit or miss and the other night it was definitely a miss. The cocktails were good, the tuna poke was great and we enjoyed eating on the patio. That was the extent of positives. I was there with a friend and we are foodies, we both decided to try the Sirloin Coulotte based on the description and photo. As soon as it came out we could smell the overwhelming amount of garlic and tasted other odd flavors, we both just looked at each other, but decided we should at least try the sirloin…I’ve only said this a handful of times in my life, but it was so tough it was actually inedible. I explained it to our waitress who was very nice and told us their head chef was on vacation. We were still hungry, so ordered the House Made Ricotta, which was was bland and came with cold soggy sourdough and stale crackers. The manager was kind enough not to charge us for the Sirloin, but Northbound needs to upgrade and add to their menu. They have a salmon dish and a smoked salmon fettuccine, which is a bit redundant. It would be great if they added their crab cakes as a standard menu item instead of an occasional special. We will probably go back, but stick with their small bites, wings, salads and maybe try a pizza.

I like trains and I like food, so Northbound is a place for me. This is a nice, casual restaurant located in the former Reading Railroad Souderton train station. (Ironic to me is that it's on the Southbound side of the tracks....). I came with a group for lunch and we all ordered something different and it was all good. Water comes in interesting, stainless steel cups. It took pretty long to get our food, but the food was very good. The servers brought us extra water and checked on us. I was hoping to see a Pennsylvania Northeastern freight train come by, but none did. It was a little bit pricey for lunch, but it was good. It was quite busy and reservations are recommended.

What an amazing dining experience! The food, service, and atmosphere was the best! Our server, Dylan, was great! He was personable, knowledgeable, and very friendly with great service! I had the house salad with balsamic dressing and it was delicious! The chicken thigh sandwich excellent! And I highly recommend the filet!! It comes with lobster mashed potatoes which were a total game changer for mashed potatoes!! Peanut butter mouse for dessert was the perfect pick after such a great meal! Overall an 11 experience and we will definitely be back!!

Disappointment all around. Arrived on a Saturday before 5pm, waited about 5-10 minutes to be seated. Ordered drinks, turns out the servers have no idea what they do or don't have. Had to order a different beer because they were out of what we ordered. Heard the same thing happen at the table nearby.

First up was the french onion soup...it was hugely disappointing. I didn't like anything about it..the cheese was wrong the flavor was off...it tasted like sugar was added to the broth, after a few bites I decided not to eat it. For excellent french onion soup you just can't beat Bubba's potbelly stove.

Next up was a beet salad which was supposed to have spinach...absolutely no spinach in this salad, the entire thing was arugula which I despise - when we mentioned this to our server he agreed it is supposed to have some spinach but then left it at that. I ate the beets, walnuts, cheese and left all the arugula. My husband had a steak and he said that was ok.

By this time our server was no where to be seen. When he finally appeared and we ordered dessert. I ordered the budino, and my husband chose the peanutbutter mousse pie with oreo crust. Presentation on the desserts was lovely. Desserts were good but very very sweet, would have loved it if they had a more balanced flavor.

It took a great deal of time to get our server to pay our bill we attempted to get his attention several times but at this point we were being ignored, walking by without ever giving our table a glance. By the time we finally got him to run our card to pay our bill we were annoyed and just wanted to leave.

The train station decor is lovely, although it was quite loud in there. The servers are difficult to differentiate from patrons, their attire seems ultra casual and no consistency whatsoever.

Very disappointing overall, we had...

Went for lunch today, first time I’ve been (have gone years ago when it was I think the Local). Number one, the owner has done an amazing renovation of the space. It’s very comfortable and spacious.

Second, and I cannot believe I’m going to rave over a salad but rave I will – I had the harvest salad with shrimp. Oh. My. Gosh. Take out your thesaurus and look up delicious. Every word listed was this salad. Delectable, heavenly, exquisite, scrumptious, mouthwatering. Every ingredient in this salad works so beautifully together. The Arugula with the butternut squash and feta with cranberries is so perfect. I could eat this for every meal. The shrimp? Cooked to absolute perfection. It’s hard to find decently cooked shrimp around here and I thought I was taking a chance ordering it with shrimp but nope, it was incredible tender and meaty.

The portion size was just right as well. Often I find when getting a “fancy salad” it’s very small and you’re still hungry. Not here – plenty of greens, plenty of shrimp excellent ratio of all the ingredients and I was appropriately satisfied. Not stuffed, not left hungry.

Even the coffee was great. I drink it black no sugar so if it’s not a decent coffee I’ll know it. 3 cups (large) cups later I'd say I was pretty satisfied.

I simply cannot say enough about the quality of food and service. If you haven’t been you need to go. Their menu will satisfy the meat eater in your family, the fried food lover and those that are looking for a...

So as someone who likes boardroom and loves butcher and barkeep, this was a must to check out. Was easy enough to find as it once housed in a place that had good food before. Easy to find and the decor was great with an outside seating area. The place is small but it did make it work. I went with 3 others to eat and drink and 2 more showed up after eating. I ordered the brisket which was great, and the rest enjoyed their food as well. We had pizza fries as well. Not as good as sexy fries but ok. Everything was fine until a spiced rum and diet coke was ordered. Now rum and diet has been ordered before before at boardroom but this time it was noticed that it tasted funny. Three people tried it and agreed, two of which are bartenders. They said it's probably the bottom of the bag on the soda. That said it was assumed an easy fix, but no. The waitress took the drink to the bar, then apparently the bartender tasted it and said it was fine. She then brought it back and said the bartender tried it and said it was fine. Well considering the drink was full except for the few sips we took to clarify that yes it tasted bad. They did not replace the drink. Well my sister in law did not want another as at this point we just wanted to do our final round and leave. It just didn't sit well as we spent a decent amount of money and wanted to enjoy our time but if one person can't enjoy then we did not want to stay. Hope this place evolves as it is nice but I will stick with butcher and...
