I hosted a baby shower here last weekend and I cannot say enough wonderful things about Broad Street Grind!!!! For starters, the planning/booking process could not have been more easy and accommodating. The owner was happy to provide any food or beverages we would like and was even willing to out source from somewhere else if we wanted something specific they could not provide themselves. The HOSPITALITY was outstanding. I have been to and involved in countless bridal showers, baby showers, etc. and Broad Street Grind was by far the most caring staff I have ever dealt with. They really go the extra mile for anything needed, small or large requests. They made sure to check in multiple times throughout the event to make sure we had everything we needed. They truly care about your experience. The food... just delicious!!!!! Every single thing, from the coffee and tea, to the fruit platter, pastries, egg casserole, bacon, soup and salad. It was evident everything was homemade. The soup and salad dressing were huge hits as well! The space... beautiful and better than I expected! It is now 10 days to Christmas and the room was beautifully decorated and complete with garland, a Christmas tree and even an adorable hot coca stand! The natural hardwood and bright open space was perfect for our brunch baby shower. The event space is on the second floor so it is private from the guests dining in. They also have an elevator for elderly guests (and was also great when we carried all the decor/favors/balloons/etc inside). Needless to say, not only myself, but all the guests absolutely loved the the shower and the event space. If you are looking for a low cost, beautiful space and outstanding hospitality, look no further!!! Thank you to the entire team at Broad Street Grind for making my best friends baby shower absolutely perfect.

Found this café passing through PA while visiting some family. As a former barista and forever coffee connoisseur, I always make an effort to support local shops and was excited to try this one without much research. I was impressed at their cold brew offerings and even more surprised to see that they offer nitro cold brew which has hit the mainstream in the past few years. The maximum size for their nitro is 16 oz which is uncommon since much of the drink is air- or should be. I should have known when they asked if I would like ice in the nitro that clearly they don’t have the technique down. The coffee was poured from a tap which is standard but there is 0 body or foam as is the trademark of a proper nitro. Not only that, but canisters of nitrogen are supposed to be refrigerated so that the resulting drink is cold and smooth like a Guinness, hence no ice. The coffee was lukewarm and flatter than even some hot brews. The flavor is good enough, I can tell the beans are quality, but the overall taste is pretty weak for a cold brew as well. For $6 a pour, I expect the execution to be flawless since not even a 20oz nitro in the most expensive neighborhood of DC costs this. Nitro gets two stars but I added a star for the macarons, which are substantial and not too sweet, very well executed. If the quality of the nitro was that of the macarons, it would be at least 4 stars! I would still try out the rest of the menu as their food items look good, so long as it is what is being advertised because this is NOT the case with their nitro coffee.

UPDATE 8/24/2021: Adding the 5th star from a 4 star rating. Love that this place has maintained its excellent quality and, of course, improved signage. Thanks for being awesome and being better! Original: Broad Street Grind really has a good beginning. After Main Street Java went under, I wondered who would take their place is the first place to go for good coffee, great location, and warm atmosphere. BSG is that. I definitely recommend you try them out and I applaud them for their knowledge of and sensitivity to allergies, including gluten. I'd encourage them to work on their indoors signage. The whiteboard sign with "today's specials" was leftover from the day before, their handout menu was incomplete, and the menu that filled in the blanks for the handout menu was on the front bar. I actually did not know what I wanted until I got to the counter and saw the separate menu. A little stressful for twenty people behind you, trying to decide at the register what you want. Otherwise, the attached photo is of my absolutely delicious breakfast sandwich. Caffeine infused, maple bacon egg sandwich. Wow! And the affogato was a generous portion. Looking forward to returning!

Really enjoyed my pour over and breakfast sandwhich! My wife loved her latte and breakfast sandwhich! The sandwiches came out on plates with pieces of fruit adding to its presentation--fancy for a small town coffee shop. The cafe and renovations made to the building are really state of the art! I could tell the girls behind the counter were still learning but they were smiling and greeted us as we came in and provided good service considering it was obvious they still needed to learn how some things ran there (like the register and the coffee and food hand off from the kitchen to the server and then the serve to the customer). I was really disappointed that there was no music on in the cafe which really goes a long way to create the atmosphere, especially when the owner and staff are still putting supplies away and going over some training material. Granted it was just as they opened at 6 am and it is only the first week. Overall I was impressed with the coffee, the food, the presentation, the friendliness of the two girls behind the counter as well as the owner we met. I do think that they have a bit of catching up to do moving forward concerning readiness in the morning and a clear understanding of how things run the smoothest concerning bar, food, and service. Having been a barista for over a year at a coffee shop and working in that environment I understand how hard it is and so I do not want to sound like I am complaining. If anyone from the store ever reads this please know I am simply giving my best ideas to help you succeed. I live a block away and am the best potential customer you have--living so close and as obsessed with coffee as I am. Just giving you some pointers. I will come in again next week and see how you guys are doing. Best of...

I have gone to BSG multiple times, ordered myself as well as with large groups and 8/10 times something has been wrong with the order. Chips instead of salad, wrong dressing or no drink. Granted, small stuff that you, for the most part, may just get bummed about but inevitably look passed. The food is good (most the time) and the place is very nice. The servers are at majority, very kind. They do announce in multiple areas in the store that their food is made to order and therefore "good food takes time" but it can get extreme, and they are not accurate with communicating how long you may end up waiting. Today we arrived promptly for our pick up. We were told it would be a little bit of a wait so we happily sat outside. 10-15min pass and we went back in and were told it would be another 10-15. For 2 non-baked items and a salad, this eventually escalated to (an order placed at 12:05) to not leaving till 1:40. When we finally received our items they were lacking and haphazardly put together. Insult to injury it felt like at this point. I understand wanting to get us out the door, and not to blame anyone as they were seemingly understaffed but BSG must find accountability somewhere and be willing to make necessary changes. Their food is not cheap (the cynic in me would argue overpriced) and I do not believe they bring enough to the table to counteract for their verging on typical oversights. For those willing to go, I suggest be willing to make an afternoon out of your visit, go at unpopular times, and perhaps refrain from online ordering. For us, this was our last...
