Souderton Family Restaurant — Restaurant in Souderton

Just to start off with, I’m writing this review as a recount of my experience and not as a hate review or to create drama or slander.

Went there for the first time because I never seemed to pass it when it was open (Hours of Operation: 5am - 2pm) and have the time to stop in and eat. Well I was a little disappointed in the service as we got a vibe from the waitress that we were a nuisance for some reason. There were only a few other people in the restaurant and they appeared to be locals/regulars.

I ordered the vegetable omelette and though it came with the vegetables I read on the menu, and didn’t taste bad, it was just lacking cheese that would have made it perfect. This may have been my oversight when reading the menu and may have not been included.

My wife ordered a turkey hoagie and was surprised to find that the turkey meat wasn’t sliced deli style, but was actual whole chunks of turkey breast. This caused the turkey meat to fall out of the sandwich every time she either picked it up or tried to take a bite out of it. She was constantly repacking the sandwich as she ate. This is definitely a preference thing, I would just suggest the waitress/server mentioning this in the future.

My son ordered a Mickey Mouse pancake which was basically a single layer round pancake with to ears added to it. Looked more like a teddy bear head, but he was happy so it was all good.

Outside of the food, the water we ordered as well as the cup of coffee all had an “something’s off with this” taste to them.

Long story short at this point is maybe we caught them on a bad day, maybe we just got the combination of that and bad odds or luck. I think what made us view the food the way we did was the tone set when the waitress interacted with us right off the bat.

Either way I may go back again, just hesitate now with the experience we had there, and it’s a shame as we only live a couple...

I have never been inside the resturant however I have ordered doordash from this location twice. The first time I had an allergic reaction to the chicken tenders, which I think was cross contaminated with shrimp, and the soda we ordered had dirt or dust in it. We decided to give the resturant another chance and ordered food and drinks again expecting it to be better, but we were unfortunately disappointed. The salads itself was shredded lettuce, thick tomoatoe and cucumber slices with no options for dressing. We also ordered steak medium which I assumed wouldn't be cross contaminated, and my significant other got fried shrimp and fries, we expected them to be in different containers however the steak was mixed with shrimp in the container so I couldn't eat anything as well as my significant other ate the steak instead and it was almost burnt. The turkey sandwich was covered so much in gravy you had to eat it with a fork and knife. We also ordered a chocolate milk and a soda again, however the chocolate milk was rotten and the soda again had dirt in it. Im not sure if the resturant in person has these issues but we will never be ordering doordash...

Dined in on Valentines day 2/14/2024 for breakfast with my fiance. She ordered an omlette which looked very basic and didn't smell like there was much seasoning present, even a little hint of pepper would've been enough to bring it up a notch.

I however ordered sausage, biscuits, and gravy; my go to at small family restaurants. Upon first glance I wish I could say there was hope and that it would be better than it looked, it wasn't. I loaded that plate with pepper just to give it some sort of flavor enhancement. The sausage was clumpy and not chopped into small pieces as it should be, the gravy was super thin and runny with little flavor, though the homefries weren't terrible but also could've used something to bring up the flavor profile.

Will I be back? I'd say maybe, I'm moving to the Souderton area and I have hope that this little family restaurant who has served this community for decades has other menu items that will please my stomach. Until...
