The drinks vary depending on who makes it. The boba itself is inconsistent in texture but not bad. Sometimes, it's perfect (chewy in the center and soft) and sometimes it's a little too al dente with the inside being a bit hard while the outside is too soft.
The reason for the 1 star is because of the terrible service, by this one girl in particular. Blonde, young, glasses, ponytail, medium height. She was working at around 1:30 pm on Sunday, February 9. I had encountered her on a previous visit and she was rude then too. Made me wait at the counter for a while while ignoring me even though there was no one else in the store.
Today, however, the service was just so bad I had to write a review. Her demeanor was very unfriendly, dismissive, and unprofessional from the get go. I ordered two drinks (taro crush and matcha storm) with boba; she forgot the boba in both of them. No apology. Then, instead of remaking the drink, she dumped the remains of the taro crush into a new cup, sea foam and all, so that the sea foam was now all mixed with the drink instead of sitting on top like it's supposed to. I asked her to remake the drinks, and then she remade the taro crush and FORGOT the boba again! She realized her mistake AFTER sealing the cup already. Then, I see her trying to peel off the seal (which didn't come off completely) and then dump in a scoop of boba on TOP of the drink (which isn't ideal because you don't suck up any boba until the end of the drink). Then, with bits and pieces of the old seal stuck to the same cup, she tried resealing the cup again, but the seal wouldn't stick on because the old seal was still partially stuck. Then, she keeps rubbing the rim of the cup with a dirty rag (that's touching the open, exposed drink) and trying to get it dry so that the new seal would stick on top of it. Didn't work. Then she's used her bare hands to wipe the rim to get it dry to get the new seal to stick. Didn't work.
Anyways, we asked her to make a new drink and/or give us a coupon or discount to compensate us for the trouble and time wasted while she ruined the drinks, not once, but TWICE, but she just stood there obstinately doing nothing, not apologizing, just staring at us. Then, she ran away to the back room instead of taking care of the incorrect orders, and left the others to deal with her mistakes.
The redhead/strawberry blonde girl who had just started working her shift at around 1:40 took over and was extremely rude as well, glaring at us, being confrontational, and raising her voice. She appeared to be the blond girl's friend.
Anyways, I have been a regular at Krak since they opened and have visited like 15 times already, but this experience has been so disappointing I don't know if I'll return. The young Asian guy that worked there around December/January was the best (both at making the drinks and service-wise). It seems like there's been a lot of employee turnover at Krak, and the employees don't seem well-trained in making the drinks and especially with customer service. I don't expect much, but at least acknowledging the customer's existence and taking accountability for your mistakes + apologizing for them is common decency.
The quality control isn't very good either. Sometimes the blended drinks have big ice chunks, the matcha is grainy and non-blended, the taro paste is not swirled evenly around the cup, etc. Maybe I'm spoiled because the Taro Crush Hong, the owner, made for me during the soft opening was the best boba I've had in my life, but the quality just isn't there anymore with the...
Read moreMy second time stopping in for boba after enjoying this new spot for the first time only a couple days ago. My significant other and I approached the counter as the only remaining customers in the building. Upon trying to order our first drink, the cashier seemed to be completely disinterested in anything to do with what my partner was trying to order. The cashier also did not specify that there were limits to toppings per drink so after explaining what toppings we wanted she seemed confused and judgemental from the start. Regardless of sitting down during the entire transaction, the cashier did not want to put any effort into being curteous or even slightly pleasant during the entire order. After paying for our two drink that totaled $18 we sat down and patiently waited while the individuals making our orders talked judgmentaly about the drinks we requested and even said one looked disgusting at one point amongst other things. Approximately zero professionalism or common courtesy amongst the staff today and left overall angry and disgusted considering the boba is actually good overall. Just need more mature...
Read moreI recently visited Krak Boba on Eddie Street in South Bend, and I must say, it was an incredible experience! The parking was very accessible, which made it super convenient to stop by, even on a busy day. As soon as I walked in, I was impressed by the vibrant atmosphere and friendly staff who were eager to help me choose from the wide variety of boba tea options. Their menu is amazing, offering so many different flavors and combinations of drinks that it took me a while to decide! Whether you're a fan of classic milk teas or want to try something fruity, Krak Boba has something for everyone. I went with their taro milk tea with honey boba, and it was perfect—just the right balance of flavor and sweetness. The boba was fresh and chewy, exactly how it should be. The service was quick and efficient, and the staff made sure everything was prepared to perfection. I also loved how clean and inviting the space was—it's a great place to hang out with friends or grab a drink to go. If you're in the area and love boba, this is definitely the spot to visit!...
