I picked this restaurant for my birthday dinner and was not disappointed! I went for their November wine pairing dinner and it was truly an experience. First, I really have to give a shout out to the staff. They are SO attentive and knowledgeable, they seriously made the night. We were serviced by no less than 3 people, all who stopped to chat for a little bit, and who constantly asked if we needed anything. The food itself was, of course, delightful. We had a 5 course dinner with wine pairings for $115. Based on the quality of food, wine, and service, I would say this is a fair price. The portion sizes, though they look small, are deceivingly filling. I could not finish most of my 4th and 5th courses (yes even dessert!). Every time we were served meat, especially the fish, it was cooked perfectly! I was delighted by dishes I thought I wouldn't like that ended up being my favorite. The 2nd course was a foie gras galette and it was the star of the show! The foie gras was a tiny amount on top of the galette which was perfect to add richness to the galette. The galette itself was expertly made, it melted like butter in my mouth. It was my first time having foie gras and I was a little put off by it on the menu but this ended up being my favorite dish. The wines paired with this dinner were also very good. The last one, a honeyed Gewurztraminer was my favorite! However, all the wines were good quality and deserved to be on the table with the food. Overall, I had a great dinner here. With tip and for two people our bill ended up being about $300 but you get what you pay for. We even had a few leftovers to bring. We never felt rushed, our food was delicious, the wait staff were attentive, our glasses were never empty, and the drinks were high quality. I will absolutely be coming here again!

An anniversary dinner story. 1. Ordered apps and drinks. Scallops are great. Escargot is good. 2. Ordered wine and entrees. Nobody asked how we wanted entrees cooked, weird. 2a. Sommelier, nonexistent. Ordered 2018 Kanonkop pinotage. Excited about it. 2b. Wine comes, 2019 Kanonkop Kadet. Different year, lower level. What seems to be the manager brings it. "You're into south African wine....bla bla bla." Me...."sure" ...wondering where this is going. Fine...wine is decent, say okay, assuming he's out of what's on the menu and it's just bad service (shame one me) 2C. Entrees show up. Steak done medium, fine. Lamb is overcooked. Veg is undercooked and cold. I guess it's what we get since no one asked how we wanted it. 3. No additional service, Wine is never topped up, No level of 'how's it going' it was slow, there was time to do it right. 4. Pay tab. Skipped desert and second wine bottle because of used car salesman level wine service and mediocre table service. Also, we're charged for the wine we asked for not the one we got, Whatever. 5. Manger is nowhere to be fou.nd to talk to about this after dinner on the way out. I don't want it to be transactional, I wanted to just tell him why this was a huge failure after I pay the bill. ie, I don't want a credit or free desert, it just should've been right without me having to make it weird. 6. We leave, never to return. We're bummed. You can say I should've refused the bottle and complained about the service but I shouldn't have to. Lasalle grille is where you come to have a premier dinner and know you're going to get top notch service. Wine and food should have come with zero concern for them letting us down. We've been before and recommended the restaurant. We won't ever again.

Overall, our experience here was pretty good. Our greeting and seating was instant and our waitress was with us in the blink of an eye. When asked about our drinks, we were offered a sommelier to help us pick a bottle to best fit our meal. I really appreciated that he showed the best bottles from the lowest to the highest price points and not just trying to push the expensive bottles like most places. Casey, you’re the man! The only down side I’d have to say was that the food wasn’t prepared to its full potential. The pierogi, a new dish they offer, was pretty underwhelming. Don’t get me wrong, the pimento crème was out of this world! Unfortunately, the pierogi itself really had no flavor. The duck was also way too fatty. Now I understand that duck is a very fatty bird, but it was about 50% fat and not hot when it arrived so it wasn’t very pleasant to chew on. The taste on the other hand, phenomenal so it made up for it. Just a fair warning, if you don’t like rare meat I’d ask for it a little more done. I thought they cooked it perfectly on the other hand but it was very pink so some may find it unappetizing. I just wish it was hotter. Some other minor things were underdone carrots and overdone sugar on the crème brûlée. Other than that, it was a very pleasant experience and I can’t wait to go back to try some more of their menu!

I have Celiac Disease and went to LaSalle Grill with a group of friends that included someone with a dairy allergy. The experience was quite unnerving, and I have very low confidence in LaSalle Grill's ability to cater to individual needs.

The website and staff say that there are many gluten-free options, and upon arrival, the server asked whether anyone had food allergies. We told him, and he helped us identify safe dishes.

We ordered several appetizers. Though I had specifically requested a gluten-free dish with the bread on the side for my wife to eat, the kitchen produced one with bread on the plate up against the gluten-free food, and so the waiter had another made.

Then, we ordered main dishes. My wife and I ordered a dish that included farro, a type of wheat. I did not recognize the name, but had asked the waiter if the dish could be made gluten-free because I knew there could be gluten ingredients that I didn't know about. The waiter said yes, and of course relayed that things needed to be gluten-free to the kitchen. The dish was brought including farro. I didn't recognize what it was, but with one bite, suspected it might be wheat. I only swallowed a little bit, fortunately, and washed my mouth out in the restroom. The waiter apologized and brought me a different dish. On the one hand, I feel a little responsible because I didn't know what farro was. On the other hand, Celiacs and people with allergies typically ask if a dish is safe knowing that there can be ingredients that we don't know about, and this is what I did. Fortunately, the replacement dish and original were free of charge.

Then, when we had sorbet for dessert, it was brought in a flour-based cone, which wasn't identified on the menu. I asked whether the cone contained flour; the waiter said he wasn't sure, but another staff person nearby overheard and said that yes it did (and also, unhelpfully, that it was delicious). The waiter quickly took the dish back, I watched my friends eat dessert, and after a few minutes got a new one, with no cone.

The food was delicious. The service was lovely. But for my wife and I to spend $80 (even with the entrees that were refunded) and for me to be glutened and to have my food repeatedly delayed was really unacceptable, especially since so many other restaurants are so much more...
