Madison Oyster Bar — Restaurant in South Bend

I went last night to celebrate my birthday with a group of friends. Me and 5 others. The menu states “parties of SEVEN or more will be charged 20% gratuity”. They charged all of us 20% and still asked for a tip on top of that. I was the only one who asked for a receipt because it was ridiculous to me that my bill was so high. I got 6 oysters ($22) a miller lite ($4.50) and a jolly rancher shot ($4.50) = $31 total. I had a gift card for $25. So my bill should have been $6 and some change. Instead it was $15.98. I asked the server how is this possible? And he replied that he “had no idea” and “doesn’t understand math unless it’s trigonometry” he even told my friend who ordered potato wedges and a coke (her bill was almost $20) that her bill was so high “because she ordered a side of ranch” he did NOT tell us he was charging us for having a “party”. I was the only person who asked for a receipt and I asked to look at his tablet. I think it’s crazy they don’t give paper receipts or anything like that. I want to SEE what I was charged for. We all felt robbed. We asked to see a manager and she had some bullshit excuse about how he “rang it in”. So I have to pay 20% + my bill + a tip because of the way the server rang my food in?? It’s very unprofessional and crazy. It was also extremely frustrating because I am a local and I love supporting South Bend business. I’m not some Notre Dame kid with daddy’s money. I work hard for MY money and they literally scammed me and my friends by charging us this fee. If the server would have communicated this BEFORE he did it, I wouldn’t have been so upset. Well we are here for lunch, it was my idea as I had saw a review that they had the best ham and cheese sandwich around, WRONG, mostly cheese, very little ham and bread was not crunchy, more soggy, the onion rings were plentiful, if only they weren't broken all up and 3 or 4 were fried together some were dark some light, plus the fries were beyond plentiful, if only cooked to crispness, they would of been good, alot of food, we split one meal but very disappointed in the food and inside was smelly and dingy dark for lunch, even the water was not good until we added lemon. Won't be going back there, parking bad too,, so whoever gave them a good rating sure didn't get a meal like ours, we ate some and bringing the rest home to recook and after this if I ever encounter a meal like this I will speak up rightaway, we had a nice waitress, cooked near us, a lady and she must of banged on pots and pans for at least 5 minutes straight. The waitress did call the owner about our bill, I just wanted my bread toasted and more ham but she said we could get just get more onion rings, we said no, since we had eatin most of our sandwich we took the rest of our food home to reheat. I visited this place a couple time in the past for tiger shrimp it’s usually pretty good. 1/5/19 a group of us went and I was the only one who ordered food(tiger shrimp) we where there about 10 mins before my food came and it wasn’t tiger shrimp I told the waitress and she was rude instantly telling it was so I Politely said that I have been here several other times in order this shrimp so this is not it she proceeded to give me attitude and tell me she was about to check me out and hurried away.She returned with everyone’s bill at the table people were not even ready to go yet she handed me all of the bills and walked away she didn’t even sort them out I asked for the manager she told me that Manager was the cook he came to the table and did not even address the issue he just started handing the bills out by asking who had one I’ve been said so you guys do not care if we come here or not? And he said no. He was rude to me and basically put us out.
