WOW! Is the one word that comes to mind, and FANTASTIC! YOU MUST EAT @ Chuck's!
I have been visiting Myrtle Beach all of my life and moved to Myrtle Beach 20 years ago but had never eaten at Chuck's. I have seen the coupon books advertisements the last 30 years for Chuck's and I always wanted to try this wonderful place so after 30 years I visited for the fist time ever this past weekend! WoW, I was so impressed! We LOVE IT! I'm now kicking myself as I could have been dinning at Chuck's the last 30 years!
My fist impression was this is a cool place and must have cool owners as everything had a great feel about the place. I'm not much of a fan of the atmosphere of some other trendy roadhouse steak places as something about loud music and p-nuts on the floor may have its place, but sometimes I want just a bit more. You get MORE at Chuck's. I love the casual to dress atmosphere of Chuck's. You could dress or perhaps come in flip flops, I like that kinda place. Chuck's feels like home, clean, warm and inviting and nice staff and GREAT FOOD!
Chuck's is laid out with high ceilings, multi level dinning and many nooks and crannies to be seated in so even if the place is busy you have a nice area to dine and relax. I would return to Chuck's for the vibe or feel alone as it has class and character but not fancy, PERFECT for the beach!
The 2nd thing to impress was the staff. We were asked if we had ever visited and given the run down and I became a fan when I was told about the many salad bar locations that is included with every entree. Throughout the meal our service was 1st class, we never wanted or needed anything, perfect service!
The salad, wow, everything from real bacon bits to garbanzo beans to the manny, many choices of home made dressing including a wonderful pepper corn ranch!
The picture I posted of my salad says more than I can but was truly the BEST salad I have ever had! Simply PERFECT!
I will admit after looking over the menu we wanted to try everything so we did over order but rationalized what we didn't eat we could take home so we had the French Onion Soup, PERFECT! we had the ribs, FANTASTIC! We had onion rings, best I have ever had! I Had the Fillet, fantastic and and cooked to a PERFECT medium, see my posted picture. We also had the Teriyaki Sirloin, Fantastic and its one big HUGE steak! Our server mentioned Chuck's is known for its prime rib, so that's on my list for next time! Same with dessert, i'll need to return to try as I had so much food this go round I could not eat another bite. I will add that the portions are plenty so come hungry and leave very full.
I live in the area and Chuck's will now become my GO TO steak place! Chuck's is a very clean wonderful place that has the best atmosphere I have found with the best food around and its comfortable, like home and the price was very reasonable and inline and what I expected to pay for such a meal. As a long time Myrtle Beach local that has only recently visited this local landmark (Chuck's) for the fist time, I can now highly recommend and suggest to make Chuck's perhaps the BEST part of your Myrtle Beach Vacation! Your trip to Myrtle Beach simply will not be complete without dinner at Chuck's...
Read moreAVOID!! AVOID!!! AVOID!!! Do NOT listen to the fake reviews. This place is trash and the steaks are FLAVORLESS unless you like bitter char flavored steaks.
First they don’t even know what cuts of steak they serve but it really doesn’t matter because they are all going to be flavorless and charred beyond belief. So charred the bitterness lingered long after taking a bite. You couldn’t even swallow it and really wouldn’t want to. The underbelly of the “butterflied” filet was as black as charcoal. We told the waitress that we were not given the right cut that we ordered. We were given a sirloin instead of filet mignon. We also told her multiple times he didn’t want the burnt piece of meat she served us and she acted as if we don’t know what we were talking about and wouldn’t take it back. She said they did a butterfly to make sure the steak was cooked all the way through. Say what? 😳 If you are a steakhouse and you can’t cook a filet mignon properly then you shouldn’t be cooking steak period.
Secondly, We also ordered crab cakes and never in my life have I been served crab cakes made with ruffles potato chip. RUFFLES!!! Smh. The service was bad and the attitude of the waitress and the manager were terrible. We were not given the hospitality that others around is received. Every table was given bread, refills, cheese trays, etc but us. We had to go slice our cheese and grab club cracker packets. The waitress left to get our receipt and never came back. After 20 mins of waiting hubby we and found the waitress who acted as if she had no idea who he was. She asked him was she his waitress because she “didn’t think she was his waitress”… she then asked what did we order… where were we sitting… only to say she has to get the manager before she could give him his receipt. The manager also made it an issue to give us a receipt and wanted to question his as to why he wanted it. We were NOT given the courtesy of being offered a refund, credit, or even a re-fire.
I can say so much more that was wrong about this place but just save yourself the trouble. Save your money and go to a steakhouse with better food and customer service. You can get a better steak at golden coral for way less and enjoy a much better atmosphere. This was the worst steak I have ever had or seen ever in life. Never again!! Also read ALL the reviews. A few people complained about the waitresses telling the customer their card didn’t go through so the customer paid in cash only for them to...
Read moreI want to stress that every time I’ve been to Chuck’s it has been a 4 star experience but this most recent experience was 1 star. The only reasons I’m putting the 2 stars are because of the decent salad bar and the happy hour chips & salsa, and cheese. Okay now let’s get into it.
We went to Chuck’s early for their early bird specials and the happy hour. We were the first people in the door and the first to get waited on in the Happy Hour Lounge area. The waitress, friendly at first, let us know that there wasn’t an early bird anymore. Much to everyone’s surprise in the Happy Hour Lounge, there wasn’t an early bird anymore. Alright so we order regular food. The salad bar, which used to be unlimited, now has changed to one trip for 9.95 and unlimited trips for 11.95. I understand inflation and times changing but the entire pandemic that hadn’t changed until this year. Not griping much about that. Again I want to stress that we were the first people to order, first in the door first to order. Every table around us got their food before ours. Now it’s not like they ordered small things and we ordered extravagant items, we ordered some wings, grilled chicken, nothing special. Half hour goes by, the first table gets their food. 45 minute mark, the next table. Hour mark, next table. Finally at the hour and 17 minute mark, the neighboring table gets their food then we get our food. During the time that we were waiting while everyone else was getting their food, we were told numerous times by the waitress your food will be out in just a few minutes.
Now when we get our food it’s not up to par in the slightest. Grilled chicken, dry. Sirloin steaks, nothing more than dry hamburger meat that came out cold. The chicken wings, that were ordered without ranch and substituted with extra wing sauce, came with ranch and no wing sauce. Our waitress never stopped by to ask our food was, only to ask if we were done and needed the check. She walked past us about 5 times and we tried to get her attention but just kept walking.
Needless to say the food wasn’t at all like it used to be, it was pretty terrible, and the service was just mediocre. I’ve been coming for 4 years and I will say, next year, we...
