Kelly's Tavern — Restaurant in South Carolina

So we have eaten here twice in the past when we travel to Hilton Head it was great both times. However, that was about 2 years ago. We ate there this past Saturday and were terribly disappointed. There were no cars in the parking lot when we arrived. Upon entering there was one person at the bar eating our food. The waitress came over took our drink order and food order. The food came out in a decent time. However mine and my husbands Rubens were not good at all. There was very little if any dressing on it at all. The Corned Beef was tough, very little cheese and all sauerkraut. I mean wow! You can get a better Ruben at Arby's! What a waste of money. Nor did we ever get one refill on our drinks! Waited on our check for 20 minutes while waitress stood inside of bar talking on a personal phone call! We will...

Well, this is a very poor copycat of the true and Famous Kelly's Tavern in Neptune City, NJ. The owners are from that area of NJ and just ripped off their concept, right down to the menu items! And sadly, the most famous items on t the "Real" Kelly's Tavern in NJ is the giant Reuben sandwich and the equally famous "Mini Reuben", are attempted here....if had the real ones ever...you would understand the lame attempt here.

Worse yet, the place is downright dirty. The floors are filthy and the tables and chairs are old and dirty. They need to rethink their concept and learn how to have a clean restaurant.....I don't even want to imagine the...

I ordered the Big Ruben which only comes open-faced (my favorite style of hot sandwich). I have no idea how I almost finished this behemoth but I had no regrets, just self hatred, in doing so. It was more than worth the $20. My wife got one of the burgers and she said that it was really really great as well. And the staff is very friendly and the service was amazing. The only other regret I had was not getting my waitresses name to send her a shout out. I will be trying their Dublin and Blarney on my next two visits.
