LePeep is a wonderful place!
And while I will always be a fan, the problem with LePeep has always been its staff. LePeep has a severe HR deficiency which shows in their mediocre service and subsequent reviews.
Let me be clear, LePeep has wonderful folks, but the lack of focus on the ACTIVE RECRUITMENT, CONTINUOUS DEVELOPMENT, and ENGAGEMENT of it’s staff leads to crappy problems that make for customers having a bad time.
I’m a fan! I WANT LePeep to win - with every bite they serve to every customer. The Food business is tough! So a place with such a great concept, location and food, needs to be EXCELLENT in order to thrive!
Last time I was there, I witnessed a series of fails that are just unnecessary and have simple remedies, but if the mindset is drained or not thinking from a broader perspective, these mistakes will keep adding up.
“No Coffee” How in TARNATIONS are you going to say that you have no coffee and leave it at that?!! There is a supermarket a few steps away. Go buy 2 coffee pots and run them continually; Fill the thermos and keep going. But NEVER SAY NO COFFEE.
Ahh but… 2. “We have espresso”. Ok… (that is coffee as well…) But the waiter did not know what an Americano was. (An espresso with water). She was sweet and kind and once I explained to her how to make it, she made it with love.
Here is the deal: if you’re going to lead customers away from one STAPLE product (coffee) then be GREAT at the replacement!
LENGTHLY Wait times. It was an early Sunday morning and I was there only with 5 other tables. We were all waiting over 25m for our plates. Then they came randomly. I got my French toast (but no eggs or bacon), the next table got the mom’s pancakes, but not the dad’s eggs. It seemed like they were all over the place but not focused on one table at at time. Which was my suggestion. FOCUS ON ONE TABLE AT A TIME!! I disliked my cold bacon and piping hot grits. That’s a FAIL! A big one. Focus on one table at a time so everyone can eat together and enjoy that experience at once. Then move on to the next. Especially if short staffed!
The WORST PART! The manager! An older gentleman was at the bar waiting on a to-go order. After about 30 minutes, he got impatient and asked about his order. The manager comes out and stated, “I will bring it out when it’s ready. You will get it when it’s done”. I couldn’t believe the lack of compassion and understanding that he spilled out. It wasn’t mean; it was uncaring! That manager did not see his customer’s needs, that manager’s mindset is not the right one for a place like LePeep, on an early Sunday Morning with customers who still CHOSE LePeep.
I wanted to speak with him but after seeing his careless demeanor, I realized that the root of the problem is thicker than some folks not showing up to work, or a missed truck delivery…
If you have bad service problem, you have a people problem. If you have a people problem, it means that you have a management problem. A management problem means a BIG HR problem! And HR problems, often point to owner priorities.
LePeep is a wonderful place. And I hope that it continues to work to improve so that our community can enjoy it for many...
Read moreDO NOT ORDER ONLINE!!! The manager (a guy who is too scared to talk to upset customers so he sends his waitresses to do it) refused to speak to myself and another who was upset that we ordered online an hour+ before we got there.
When I arrived at 12:30 to pick up the food I scheduled for a later order I was told not only was my food not ready, they didn’t even start on my order AND there were 5 orders before mine. They also told me they pushed all the online orders to the back of the prep line so all the online orders were running late. Because I needed to go I told her to just give me a refund and cancel the order since they didn’t even start. She wasn’t able to process it but the manager could. She walks back to get him to process it to which he tells her it’s going to take about 20 mins to come out and do so.
I’m not waiting another 20 minutes for you to come and process a refund after sending her back and fourth a few times he finally tells her I can talk to him through the kitchen door. I spoke to him and requested again a refund to which he said “ma’am like I told you 5 times, it’ll take me about 20 mins to do so”…uh yeah and I’ve been in here for 30, where is my refund??!!! He responds “we’re backed up and this is my priority” I informed him again, I need to know you’re going to process my refund, I need to leave. I ordered my food one and half hours before I came and if that wasn’t enough time one of yall should called and let us know. Instead now that I’m here and waited another 30 you’re not trying to even speak to me or the others that are ticked off, you’re trying to hold me off so you can fix the food I told you I no longer wanted. As I was walking out, he marked the food as ready but not only did I not take any food with me, he didn’t even mark my refund.
He needs more training the restaurant was beyond slow and he’s just standing there calling out orders not helping them cook, not helping the front, not helping the upset customers. While I was there 4 ppl ended up walking out bc they didn’t want to wait 2 hours for food when the restaurant isn’t even busy.
Hire more help, train them better, speak to your upset guests instead of sending your workers to do it. You’re the manager that’s what you get paid to do, manage, do it.
Sn- looking at the way he responds to reviews I’m surprised he still has a job here. Can’t the owners see they...
Read moreI had a horrible experience here this past Sunday. We waited an hour to be seated. After I was told it would be 15 minutes. Seen multiple people sat down even people who came after I was there. The manager will say it’s because I wanted a booth but I seen people who came after me getting a booth. I felt like it was very intentional. I didn’t want to leave after waiting so long so hoped for a turn around once we sat down. The waitress was nice and had a lot of tables on her own. I felt very bad for her. When they finally brought the food it was cold and the pancakes were hard as cardboard. They took them back and didn’t bring them back till everyone was had already eaten. At that point we asked to speak to the manager who was already on defense mode and my husband asked for his meal to be taken off because it was just a horrible experience at that point. The manager became bothered and the walked away. We went to pay for our bill and he told us to leave and never come back with an ugly smile on his face laughing with the hostess. After reaching out to Le Peep I got a rude response that I was rude to multiple staff which is a bold face lie. It’s really gross that they would take Brian’s word over their customers when there are plenty of review’s about him. If I was anyone wondering if you should come here I would say go to Eggs up grill! Fast and friendly service and good food. I would never make a review but this was just such a ridiculous experience. Brian has a very narcissistic personality and he will be the downfall of that restaurant if they don’t start listening to people.
*in response to your bogus reply…I only encountered 3 people that day. The hostess, the waitress and Brian the bad manager. As I mentioned in the original review the waitress was kind and did her best. As I left your hostess and your manager were laughing together. Make that make sense? If you truly cared about your customers maybe you should watch the cameras but you won’t because you don’t care about your customers. Nothing I said was false at all because what do I have to gain from this? Absolutely nothing. I was trying to help you out the owner so you can make sure you train your manager how he can do a better job if a customer has a bad experience. This is a dead topic...
