Madres' Mexican restraunt nestled in a small strip mall at 1001 Bacons Bridge Rd opened and run by all woman management is not your typical Mexican restaurant. If you are looking for a different Mexican flavored dining experience, Madres' is the place to visit. Madres' shrimp tacos were absolutely excellent. Large but not too large Shrimp on a corn tortilla topped with purple cabbage, cubed mango and a creamy avocado salsa was an absolutely tasty sensation. Probably the most unique and flavorful Taco in Summerville SC. My only suggestion would be to use two tortillas to be able to pick it up to be eaten with hands. The enchiladas are offered 3 to a plate and can even be ordered as a variety of three types: chicken, beef, pork, cheese and potato. The cheese sauce was so good, and topped with vegetables as well. Overall a 5 star dining experience. The pre meal chips are made fresh daily with white corn sided with salsa and cheese. I honestly love this place.

I was making a video walkthrough of a home for an out of town client in Summerville. Allen and I were hungry and saw Madres' Mexican Restaurant, so we decided to stop. It was AMAZING! Recipes straight from their Mom (i.e. "Madre") in Mexico, sisters Mariana and Karen have made this little hideaway a delicious break from the usual American-Mexican you find everywhere. Madres' offers fresh, seriously AUTHENTIC Mexican cuisine, a taste of which we had not experienced since our trip to Mexico. Our favorites were the shrimp tacos, enchiladas, and fajitas. Boy oh boy, I have never had guacamole so fresh unless I made it myself! They even offered vegan rice and beans. The restaurant was warm pleasant, and immaculately clean! Mariana has a beautiful welcoming personality that makes you feel right at home. If you're in Summerville, make sure you stop by this little piece of heaven on Bacon's Bridge Road!

Small restaurant yet family owned and authentic Mexican cuisine. We ordered the madre steak salad which was good but bland, it needed a bit more salt. We also had chicken nachos and that was great. The one thing that threw me off is that you do not get chips and salsa unless you order food, anything. They were fast to serve us and made sure we were well taken care of through our meal and after. The atmosphere is inviting and very home like. There was only one server and one cook, so it’s a sit yourself restaurant. All in all the pricing was fair for the portion of lunch we got. The only thing that needs improvement is the sitting area and a bit more attention to detail when it comes to the ordering of the food as we had asked for some items to be removed due to some allergies and they weren’t therefore we did it ourselves. Just pay a bit more attention next time.

I have no bad memories associated with Mexican food. Until now. I am still processing my emotions a whole day after this travesty occurred. Our waitress was great. But nice staff can’t make up for the flavorless mess that is prepared at this restaurant. I should have left when the waitress told us she would be back with salt and pepper. I have never been to a Mexican restaurant where it was even something that was needed. The tortilla chips were good… but needed salt. The salsa. It made me almost cry. I have never had to flavor salsa before at a Mexican restaurant. And…..you have to pay for this flavorless mess of tomatoes and onions. I had hopes it would get better….. but this story doesn’t have a happy ending. Now for the main course. I got the chile rilleno which comes with refried beans and rice. The beans and rice …. Had no flavor. Like none at all. I was shook. How could this be ?? I realized now why the salt and pepper were brought to every table. Using salt I was able to make the food edible but definitely not enjoyable. The chile itself was cooked well but the red chile sauce on top was more of a tomatoes soup….it actually tasted like Campbell’s tomatoes soup. Also the poblano pepper wasn’t skinned….. We also got fajitas which was served with the same rice and beans. And those were unseasoned as well. And the vegetables in the fajitas themselves weren’t salted all the way. I was surprised when they arrived at the table because they weren’t sizzling to announcement their delicious arrival. All in all. I have never been betrayed by Mexican food. Not until this day. If the term “white people taco night” could be made into a restaurant then it would be this place. I’m still not sure if this was a joke or if it was intentional. I would not recommend this place to someone who enjoys food. I feel as though the community here deserves an apology for this crime against...

We visited the Summerville location this evening and it was very disappointing. Food was cold, AC was non-existent and the windows are disgusting. Two of us ordered Fajitas but they didn't bring the tortillas so we couldn't eat our meal. When our waitress finally came over and asked if everything was alright we told her we STILL didn't have tortillas to go with our meal. She said she would get them but proceeded to wait on another table. I ended up telling them to take my meal back when they finally came with the rest of our meal. So I didn't eat at all. The manager did come over and said the 2 meals would be taken off the bill. But when the waitress cashed us out she only removed my meal. So we had to wait until she got confirmation of what the manager had just told us.

I once read where Walt Disney said you should never open your doors unless everything is perfect. If you don't have all your ducks in a row all you are doing is telling everyone that comes to your restaurant that they are not important enough to offer them a clean, comfortable environment and hot food.

You have a lot of good reviews from the old location, do you really want a bunch of 1 star reviews in this new location? Fix the AC, replace the glass and when you reopen have someone insure that the meals are correct and hot and you should be good.

I don't write many negative reviews but this experience just rubbed me the wrong way. I don't understand how you can open a restaurant and...

I really don't like writing negative reviews however, keep in mind, my taste buds might be different than yours. The first negative was basket of chips and salsa came traditional however, if you wanted additional salsa it would cost you. Huh, what? Ordered our dinner and asked if salsa came on my burrito bowl b/c I hadn't noticed it on the ingredient list, waiter told me no and it'll cost extra. No thank you! My husband and I each ordered a margarita while waiting for our food (no frozen options as they don't have any equipment to make one 😳okay fine), just like the drinks themselves-FINE- nothing spectacular. Waiter asked if we wanted waters with our margaritas, we said, yes. 4 times he came to the table before finally remembering our waters. The burrito bowl was good. More expensive than Chipotle and Chipotle's burrito bowls have more ingredients and you don't get charged. ( For those wondering 😀, NO, it did not come with guacamole and I certainly didn't want to know what kind of upcharge it would be). My husband had a trio plate that was average. Unfortunately we will not be going back. It was overpriced, average food and BTW- the salsa wasn't worth paying...
