Salty Dog Bluffton Restaurant and Pizza — Restaurant in South Carolina

I have being going to the Saltydog Restaurants since the early 2000's. It should be noted I have lived in Ireland and traveled all over the world. I certainly know a great restaurant due to all my travels all over the globe. I can quite honestly say the Salty Dog Restaurants both in South Beach Marina and the newest one at the Tanger outlet lived up to my high expectations of great Restaurants. I stopped off at the Salty Dog in Bluffton during the last week of December. Upon entering we were greeted and seated to our table. I ended up ordering a burger&fries. It was perfect and tasted exactly as the Burgers I experienced many times down at South Beach Marina on Hilton Head Island. Our waitress Meagan was outstanding and checked on our table and provided outstanding customer service. Really great to see someone take great pride in their job. The Manager on duty also checked on our table. To finish off my meal I ended up ordering the Key-lime Pie. It was absolutely delicious and I highly recommend. The restaurant is very clean and has really great tables. It should be noted they also have a great bar also. If you are visiting the Beaufort, Savannah, Bluffton and Hilton Head Island areas I highly recommend Salty Dog Cafe. Lastly if you have a loved one Graduating from Parris Island, I can not think of a better place to celebrate the new Marines Career. The Restaurant certainly rates Five Stars and more. I’ve always wanted to eat at a Salty Dog Cafe & was so excited to get the chance after my husband & I spent a day out shopping. Unfortunately, our experience at the Tanger Outlet location left much to be desired & made me wish we had instead gone to the location in Hilton Head instead of wasting our time & money at this one. The food was so-so & the service was even worse. I understand that it was lunch time rush & busy and our waitress was probably a bit overwhelmed but she at least could have smiled or something. I just felt like she treated us like a huge inconvenience & wasn’t listening to us at all which was evident when she served us a hushpuppy appetizer I had repeatedly tried to cancel immediately after my husband ordered it since my husband was able to sub his coleslaw out for extra hush puppies with his meal. I ordered the shrimp & chips basket w/coleslaw while my husband ordered the fish & chips basket. The food was okay but I feel like for the price we paid, we could have ordered better somewhere else. The coleslaw was VERY good however so that kind of made up for it. Our waitress was accommodating when I asked for drinks to go too which kind of made up for the lack of service as well. Stopped by on a Tuesday at lunchtime, half the restaurant was closed off. We were told 20-30 minute wait. We had to wait outside. Bugs were flying in everyone's eyes. The children began to complain. I went back to the hostess after fending off bugs for fifteen minutes and told her just forget it the bugs were eating us alive. She rudely said "Fine". So we left.

I called back later asked to speak to the manager. I was asked my name and what it was concerning. I replied- a complaint about service earlier today. Put on hold for ten minutes. Then I am told the manager is busy and will call me back. I said never mind I will just write a review on the website. Then the manager is available.

The manager said there was nothing she could do about any of it. She said it's a small place and there is nothing she can do about the bugs. I said you could spray some yard guard.
