Y'all! I have to tell you about a new Thai restaurant that has opened in town: Thai Y'all.
Now, the name may sound cute, but it's probably a good name. Just like the "Southern" name might imply, this place is unassuming, friendly, and MAN is the food good.
The ambiance leaves something to be desired. This is not your spot for a romantic dinner out, but don't hold that against them. The decor was sparse, but welcoming, and they even put number coded pictures up so you can look at the menu item you're considering.
The young ladies that were hostessing/waiting (running the place?) were both very friendly and the service was great. My food came out quickly and my drink never got below half.
Don't believe the review that stated the portion size was too small (maybe because it was take-out). Everyone at my table ordered large dishes so we could share and sample and no one left hungry, I promise.
As soon as our order was placed we were brought a complementary vegetable spring roll and cheese rangoons as an appetizer. The spring roll was good, but the sweet peanut sauce they brought with it was amazing. They could've just brought a bottle of that and I would have been a happy camper.
The Pa Neng Curry is probably the best I've ever tasted. Even if you don't like coconut, you really need to try this Pa Neng. A word of warning, if you don't like spicy heat, order it with no spice. I got the medium. I consider myself a lover of spicy food, but this one had me on the smolder from the first bite. It was so good, though, I just didn't care.
The Pad Thai and the Drunken Noodles were also very tasty. If you're new to Thai food, but like Chinese food in general, start with the Drunken Noodles.
Here's the bottom line. These folks were friendly and they know how to cook. Let's keep them in business, because now that I know where to get good Pa Neng, they need to...
Read moreMy wife experienced Thai food for the first time today and she was in heaven! She ordered the kao pad sapparod, Thai Y'all chicken, moo kratiam and pad kee mao along with roselle juice for our family to try. We each tried a little bit of everything, however my wife does not eat noodles, so she passed on the noodle dish. We enjoyed the food, but there were pros and cons to the whole meal.
Pros: *Everything was hot and fresh upon pick up. *The flavors are incredible. *The food is healthy and packed full of vegetables. *The roselle juice was light in flavor and refreshing. *The sauces are light. *The Thai Y'all chicken is sweet and tasty. *They have a discount code.
Cons: *The portions are too small on some orders and even when you order a large portion, it is barely enough for one person. *It is expensive. *The complimentary vegetable rolls are hard, but the inside is tasty. *The pad kee mao didn't taste very good. It smelled heavily of bell peppers and the noodles were mushy. *We ordered the large order of Thai Y'all chicken and had to have been given the small order because there wasn't enough in the box for one person, let alone for 3 people to share. There was maybe 5 pieces of over cooked chicken in the box and we paid a lot of money for that, so we were dissapointed.
All in all, we would definitely order from Thai Y'all again. Hopefully next time the portion sizes will be bigger and we will get the correct order size on all...
Read moreA gem hiding in boiling springs for sure! This is my third time dining here, and I swear it gets better each visit!
Were always greeted warmly and enjoy sitting down and having our meal inside the restaurant.
The spring rolls are served hot and taste absolutely delicious. I never seem to get a picture because I can't help but start eating them the moment they hit the table. One of these days I'll remember to snap a pic, the sauce served with them is fantastic too.
I decided to try the Thai tea, and WOW what a delicious drink. It was smooth and creamy, with a nice sweetness to it and the after taste of tea, definitely worth the try if you enjoy something that isn't overly sweetened.
The entrées were phenomenal, as they always are. I especially love the pork/chicken pad thai, if you don't like spicy, I would recommend sticking with the mild spice, but I think I may turn up the heat next time.
Please support your locally owned and run businesses, especially this one. They're wonderful, and they know how to create incredible dishes, all while making you feel welcome to sit and eat. If you haven't tried it, its worth a shot. If I had the choice between 8-6-pho and this restaurant for the pad thai, I would pic thai...
