Travelers Restaurant — Restaurant in South Carolina

I am baffled at the amount of good reviews for this place. The staff is the only reason I have a star to give as they were very good. That being said, the food was beyond awful! There was not one thing my family got for breakfast that was good. The country "fried" steak was appalling it is not battered and seemed to be slapped on the grill with left over grease. Not even the hashbrowns tasted good...how do you mess up hashbrowns? The biscuit was cold and stale, very dry. The syrup for pancakes came in individual smuckers packets 😬. As a native of the upstate I would not by any means recommend this restaurant as "country cooking" or any cooking for that matter. By no means is this a complaint against the cook I believe the quality of food from this establishment is lacking from the source. There are MANY quality breakfast establishments in TR now and I hope the owner is able to step his game up in the food...

We went to Travelers Restraurant today around 3 pm. First of all it was hotter in the restraurant then it was outside. But the cashier had a fan blowing on her. Second, the place had 7 tables that had 2 people at each table but only one waitress working. So we set down and ordered and had to wait forever for our food. When it finely arrived it was cold except for my granddaughters chili dog. The waitress was nice but after she brought our food she never came back to our table. She walked to all the other tables asking if they needed anything but ours. We ran out of drinks but no one seemed to care. The cashier which is the owners daughter sit there with the fan blowing on her never said a word to me when I paid except sign here. The owners daughter needs to learn what southern hospitality is and realize the customers is what pays her and the bills. Will...

I always love this little country restaurant and used to eat here at least once a week with my dad who's now passed away. I've been wanting to visit again because it brings back memories but the hours aren't what they used to be, so I never have time to stop in because I'm working when they're open. They used to be open from morning till evening every day except for Sunday, but now they're only open Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 6:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. I believe. For a while I even thought they were closed for good. The food was always delicious and from what I remember, the service was good too. Hoping one day I'll have time to stop in or they'll extend the hours. Definitely worth trying if you haven't, they have awesome home...
