Let me start this by saying my child is autistic with sensory issues as well as diabetic which makes going out to restaurants incredibly difficult. We arrive with a party of 10 at 540pm for his birthday. Told it should be an hour or less. 7pm comes and we ask for an update and are told soon… more time goes by and my child is starting to become unsettled. If you’re familiar with children in general this should come as no surprise. Well now his BG is low and and a meltdown is on the way. All the while we’ve suggested we can go elsewhere but this is the only choice he was sticking with, again if you’re familiar with ASD changes are a no-go. We are finally seated around 9pm. You’re probably wondering at this point why it’s 5 stars… our chef JuJu (the spelling is probably wrong) was AMAZING. We had a party of diverse dietary needs and he made our experience incredible! From insisting to make separate fried rice for the vegetarian in our party, to the small details of him noticing my child’s sensory issues when he got his steak and started to pick it apart and the smile fall from his face. Juju went to personally pick out a new steak, which we repeatedly told him he didn’t need to, to get my son a piece which he could enjoy saying ITS YOUR BIRTHDAY! THEN he went and got him a brand new clean plate to put it on instead of just putting it on the original plate. The fact that he took to time to do something like that, as a special needs parent, means more than any wait time. He was funny, kind, entertaining, and absolutely made his night one of the most memorable birthdays he has had in years.

7 of us decided to visit Wasabi after not being able to get seated at Yokoso. Never been here before but was willing to try something new. I wasn't disappointed. The food was good. The service was good. I wasn't a fan of how sweet the white sauce was compared to others in the area but it was still good nonetheless. They were busy but dispite that our chef made sure to let the staff know we needed refills when our overburdened waitress was busy with other tables. You start out with soup and salad and any appetizer you order followed by the meal you order which is prepared by the chef, just like any other Habachi restaurant. The prices are on par with all the other Habachi restaurants in the area. The biggest difference here is they add bacon and egg in the rice. The egg was fine but I personally felt the bacon was off-putting and overpowering for Habachi fried rice. It tasted to much like breakfast with the bacon added. All in all that was my biggest complaint. The atmosphere was nice featuring traditional Japanese culture in the lobby with a full bar. Dimly lit, with a fish pond. The sushi side was as big as the Habachi side, and i will admit the Habachi side felt a little cramped as all the tables were closer than some other restaurants. Atmosphere: 7/10 Price: 6/10 Service: 8/10 Menu Variety: 8/10 All in all it was a pleasant experience. It's my personal opinion when I say Yokoso is a little bit better but you won't be disappointed here either. They just need to stop with the bacon on the rice.... unless... hey that's your thing then go for it.

They were busy, but it seemed like even being served, it took forever. Most of the time was spent waiting, even at the table. Ordered a sushi roll, but had no chopsticks or bowl for sauce. Didn't see waitress fo 10 minutes before I could ask. Our cook admitted to being new and without any training. The food was cooked well, but there was no entertainment. It was not a pleasant experience. Two at our table had birthdays. The singing was only our waitress and the manager(?): Sad showing. Details of complaints: Salad had way too much dressing; shrimp appetizer was not cut up, at all; very few vegetables, Less than 1/2 C was my portion; rice was a huge portion with little flavor; shrimp portion had only two small pieces of broccoli; steak had only a mushroom sliced; chicken was put on the grill last and took forever to cook, because items were cooked one after the other, not together. I usually add scallops to my meal, but haven't gotten scallops the last 3 times. Gotten punched fish instead. This time I ordered grouper. Came as a fillet 10 inches long, 3-4 inches wide. Tasty and delicate but Was not grouper. The restaurant stays fairly busy but is very poor maintenance and cleaning. Restroom has rusty fixtures like an old gas station. Definitely Not enough servers. At one time, my son and I had 5 empty water glasses between us during our wait for food. The cook had to go to another table 3 times to get sauces he ran out during his cooking. Next time we will go to the only other hibachi restaurant in Summerville.

Took my family here for a pre Thanksgiving dinner after my brother flew in from Fla. , he’s been a professional in the food & beverage industry for over thirty years. I made reservations and arrived on time , except for my mother who arrived three minutes later , the host had a terrible attitude, my wife & I were told twice to “step away, and we’d be seated wherever our full party arrived , as my mother walked in the door , I told her we were all here, her response “ take a seat I will let you know when we can get you in” no sir or mam . I spoke to the manager, who apologized, and I believe this set the pace for a terrible experience. Upon being seated, after waiting ten minutes at the hibachi table, the server came and took our drink order , after we received our drinks while talking and waiting for the cook to arrive and an order to be taken, we noticed how dirty the overall cooking area was , and THEN old dirty oil from the overhead exhaust dripped down into my brothers drink !! My brother spoke to the manager, she apologized, but really offered nothing more than a quick apology, my brothers appetite was gone , he was done for the night, after that , he was now eyeballing everything in the restaurant and that was upsetting for me as this is family time that was being ruined by this experience. Our service continued to be slow and not up to par , I also felt bad for a family sitting with us celebrating their twins birthdays, I could tell the father was taking pride in the fact that he’d planned this for his children’s birthdays, but was also not happy about the service. It doesn’t stop with all the above , the food prep was poor , the vegetables , chicken, and beef all looked as if they’d been out of the cooler and on that cart for to long , the taste was not great , and although our chef was upbeat, and had a good attitude, there was no showmanship that I would expect from a hibachi chef. The salads that were ordered gave the appearance of something that was stacked in the cooler, thrown onto the table . Finally, my drink that came after my food clearly had some nastiness floating in the bottom of the glass , which was the final straw for me. The manager informed me that “good help is hard to find these days” , which as a small business owner in Summerville, I definitely agree, however you still need to be accountable for the price you’re asking for poor quality service, and experience that the customers are paying , like I said , I felt that man celebrating his kids birthdays, might have been spending a large portion of his paycheck that week for the experience. Very upsetting experience, but we still managed to have some laughs and be happy we’re together for the holiday.

My wife and I had came here a couple years ago and had a good experience, things have gone downhill since apparently.

We will not be returning, and I hope that reviews like this help turn...

Great food, and a great show but absolutely ATROCIOUS service.

Our party of six dined on a Friday at roughly 6PM, and despite the call ahead seating there was a slight wait. We were okay with this as they were pretty busy and we were still sat in a relatively timely manner.

Once sat, we waited for an exorbitant amount of time for our waitress to the table. Once she finally, arrived two of our party had questions regarding the alcohol menu. Instead of taking everyone's orders and checking on it all at once she walked away from the table each time, so our entire table sat without drinks for at least ,15-20 minutes. My wife and I placed a sushi order and several of our party agreed to split a barrel of hot sake with or original drink order. After 30 or so minutes none of our alcohol and sushi arrived and many of our party's sodas and tea sat empty. When our waitress finally came back to the table we asked about said sushi and alcohol. Our waitress returned a short while later with luke warm hot sake, luke warm draft beer. And watered down margaritas that had clearly st at the bar for extended periods of time.

While waiting for extended periods of time we noticed sushi being delivered to tables all around us, so it was clear other tables were ordering and receiving sushi promptly. The waitress continuously blamed the bar and sushi bar for the issues she clearly created. After we sat for almost 45 minutes still no sushi and the show began. The sushi finally arrived and despite being for multiple people at the table sitting across the table from one another, the sushi all arrived on one plate. I expressed my displeasure to the waitress and asked for plates and told her we would just take care of it ourselves.

About 10 minutes later she came back with plates and as I began to divide the sushi up, she looked at me and said word for word, " I know you are upset about some sushi, but you need to be nice." I was absolutely floored and immediately told her to bring a manager. Once he arrived I explained the situation showed him the issues with drinks, sushi. Alcohol etc and told him what she had said to me. He apologized but seemed very disingenuous. I also expressed to him that in no way shape or form was this about money and that we did not want a discount or free food. He then proceeded to take care of us for the rest of the night was drastically improved our experience but it was already too little too late.

This was the worst service I've experienced in the Charleston area since moving here and we will absolutely not return. That waitress has no business waiting tables or working with the public. She clearly created the issues revolving around sushi, alcohol, etc and it made the entire crew of that restaurant look bad even though the show and food...

My family had dinner here tonight to celebrate a birthday and had a horrible experience. We sat at our table for 20 minutes before someone went to the hostess stand tomask for a server. The gentleman that claimed to be the "manager" said he would be right over. He took our drink and food orders and walked away. after sitting there for an additional 20 minutes still with no drinks or food we had to get up again and ask for help. Ten minutes later we finally got our watered down drinks, 4 of which were bar drinks that we watched sit at the bar for 20 minutes. During the time we waited for the drinks we watched the "manager" wander around and did to birthday celebrations with other tables. Finally when, what seemed to be, the intoxicated chef came it didn't get any better. His fire display before he started jumped off the grill to oil the that he spilt on the wood. It was directly in my daughter's face and entirely way to close. He didn't offer us any sauces and had to find sauce trays, which we had to sort through the dirty ones to find a clean one, from other tables. Once we got them we had to ask for sauce, which at this point he was about to serve vegetables. I questioned the way the chicken looked before he started cooking it. Parts of.it looked gray and not the normal color of raw dark meat chicken. When he served the rice it went everywhere. Dumped in drinks and all over the table. We had to get up a third time to find a waitress for drink refills. We had different servers the entire time table adjoined to us had 2 parties be sat, cooked for and had eaten. When we paid we walked out with the second party. We expressed our issues calm to several people, including the "manager" and we were basically blown off. Our 18% gratuity was added to our bill. The waitress that helped box up our food heard me say I was not adding anything additional because of the horrible service not to mention the questionable food quality cooked and served by the intoxicated cook. Once she heard me she had an attitude while boxing up the rest of the food and had another server bring us back copies to sign. The only people that made any attempt to help us was the sweet girl bussing tables, which also seemed to be the only one steadily working, and the female assistant manager we spoke to when we were leaving. She offered us a discount on a future visit. We thanked her for giving the option but we won't ever be coming back. The sorry excuse for a manager basically hid from us and never once an apology for the inconvenience. We did take the food home we didn't eat, which was basically all of it, but will be throwing it away as I don't even feel as if it is...
