I moved to South Carolina a few months ago, and my boyfriend took me to Ye Ole Fashioned the firs time I came down here. He took me to the one in North Charleston and I loved it!
We moved to Summerville, and we went to this one and I hate it... I've tried this one probably 5 times, and it's been terrible every time. Mostly we have went through the drive thru, or ordered through Uber Eats. We only went inside once (which I will save that for last). Let me explain more!
The first time we ordered from here, we ordered through Uber Eats. We ordered a pulled pork sandwich, fries, drink, milkshake and chicken tenders, fries, drink, milkshake. It was just over $55. The Uber Eats delivery was only $.99 and a couple dollar processing fee! It was insane!! My pulled pork honestly just wasn't good. Eveything else wasn't too bad, they did give you a lot of fries.
The second time we ordered we were coming back from Myrtle Beach. It was about 10:45 and we pulled up to the drive thru. There was a car in front of us. We waited about 20 mins just for them to get milkshakes. We pulled up, and it took about 15 mins for just 1 of ours. It was forever.
The next time, we ordered mac&cheese bites and a grilled cheese and a milkshake. The mac&cheese bites have peppers in them and are super hot! The grilled cheese is kinda so-so. I'd rather make one at home.
We went another time, and the milkshakes weren't as good. They changed their style of cup, and I feel like they shrunk. I'd rather drive to North Charleston honestly.
But... Here is the reason I mainly gave them 1 star. My boyfriend and I went inside once. We ordered mac&cheese bites, chicken, fries, and ice cream (not milkshakes). What's the first thing I see when I walk in? Girls with their shots up their butt. Almost every single one of them. It was honestly disgusting and just nasty! I felt I was more at a strip club, which I have never been to in my life but I felt like it. They seemed very unorganized, and just rude. It was also very crowded inside, and kids running everywhere with no parents watching them. The North Charleston location is not like that at all! Last time I went they had more male employees who dresses respectfully and were nice, clean, and organized!
I refuse to go back to this specific Ye Ole Fashioned in Summerville unless the girls there put some clothes on, and they...
Read moreI’m convinced the teenagers here don’t have common sense. I’ve been in here multiple times, where I’ve had to repeat orders and break it down into baby talk. Unfortunately, the word “deconstruct” must be a college term, because the teens never understand what it means. Just about every time I come I get a brownie Sunday to-go. I ask them to deconstruct it so that the hot fudge doesn’t melt the ice cream by the time I get home. So aside from having the same issue again today, the girl didn’t understand what breaking down the order even meant. I told her I always ordered it this way to prevent the ice cream from being melted by the time I get home. I had to explain 3 times to this girl that breaking down the order meant putting all the ingredients in separate cups, then she asks “so can I put the hot fudge in with one?” I gave up and told her “with the brownie?” She nodded yes. I said “Yeah sure.” This girl gives me my food, and I get home and the ice cream is half melted because she put the hot fudge WITH the ice cream…. Doing that defeated the whole purpose of getting everything separated. Steaming hot fudge will melt the ice cream…… Please hire smarter people or teach them better listening skills. The kitchen is already in shambles anyways and I never see the same employee more than once (that alone speaks louder than any...
Read moreI hadn't been here in decades but we have been getting tons of delivery throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and I decided to give them a chance. And then another one. I recall them being pricey. They are. But the food is great! Authentic American and deli cuisine. I always get a Reuben but this time chose a Rachel. It was still delicious corned beef and Swiss on rye but but with fresh tasty slaw instead of sauerkraut, which was a scrumptious swap. I think I might be a convert!
Hubby's Dagwood was stacked high and tasty, and the fried pickles were fresh tasty rounds, perfectly breaded. The trip here was a bit long, and I know they would be even more delicious eaten on-site, or if one of the closer locations would deliver, but for some reason only this one is an option. Beggars can't be choosers.
A previous delivery brought us the chili-cheese dog, which was bun-poppingly long and slathered in yummy chili that mostly didn't land on the floor, and a corn dog that made me think of the fair. Nostalgia food, well done. The shake and malt were fair, though I am forever searching for the perfect chocolate malt and haven't had one since they changed the malt powder at Guerin's pharmacy back in the 80s. The search continues.
Overall, I was refreshingly impressed with Ye Ole Fashioned, a blast from the past I'll definitely keep in mind...
