Stayed here for a wedding for 5 days, room was nice and clean when we checked in apart from the subtle musty odor when you walk in. Went to shower and the drain was totally clogged so the shower was flooding. We requested a repair for that and the first plumber called out sick so we had to wait longer. On the third day of waiting, another plumber was found but wouldn't get in until 7pm. By 8pm we asked where he was since he hadn't arrived and apparently he canceled. Then a plumber came in at 8:45pm when we were about to go to bed... no warning. Fixed the drain but left the brown drain sludge across the floor in the bathroom. We had also requested room service for day 3 since the trashes were getting full, towels needed a refresh, and the linen needed a change (one of the beds smelled like cigarettes). We requested room service about 3 times on day 3 all before 5pm. We saw the employee write us down on the book even. But when we got back that night on day 3 we hadn't gotten room service. My brother was staying in a separate room and his was fully serviced without even requesting it. We spoke to a manager and she gave excuses for the lack of service. Claiming nothing was written down and that we were requesting after 5pm (we weren't). She also said you get room service every other day and since we booked 4 days originally (thur-sun) and added a 5th day (Wednesday) that technically we wouldn't be on the service schedule until Saturday. Well then if we're gonna be technical like that then how come the room wasn't serviced Thursday when we had to renew the booking? Do you not clean rooms between guests? Of course you do, but they neglected us. Then the wedding was Saturday. We were gone all day, perfect for room service to come clean. We get back at 11pm and the only thing that changed was the trash being renewed... NO FRESH LINEN! We got some towels at least. Oh and the best part was that we were out of toilet paper. THEY DIDN'T REFRESH TOILET PAPER. we had to go ask for toilet paper. We went down to respectfully complain. We got more excuses from the manager. She told us "your room was cleaned" we told her it was not and she said that her cleaning guy specifically did our room and "took pictures". Do you think we're lying that it wasn't cleaned? We again said it was not cleaned, especially the bedding, the bedding was the most important part. 5 days sleeping on stinky cigarette-y sheets is just so fun. I didn't wanna tell them their blankets stink because I assumed room service would fix it early and it would be fine but nah. She also claimed that he must not have cleaned because we left things on the bed and they're not allowed to move it apparently. We 1000% left NOTHING on the beds. Also my brother's room was serviced fully yet again while at the wedding. Hmm I thought you service only every other day? But his room got service two days in a row? OK. Also they said they left things on the bed which were moved so claiming that leaving something on the bed makes it unservice-able was a literal lie. So all in all we were given a big bag of excuses and we had to really really pry for any bit of compensation. She didn't want to give me new bedding that night so i could at least service my own bed. She didn't want to offer a free night, claimed that since we booked through Expedia it would be up to them. Doesn't everyone book through websites like that... nice excuse to save money huh. Anyway Expedia refunded us for 2 nights so I'm very happy with Expedia. The cherry on top was the dead roach outside our room which I've attached to...
Read moreI had a King bed studio, which did not seem to compromise on space for one person. The studio is essentially a long but not too thin rectangular space that still accommodates a full kitchen space including a full size refrigerator and kitchen. There is sufficient space in the cupboards for one and maybe two people. A full size sofa and ottoman face a nicely sized television to which I was easily able to set up a Chromecast for watching Netflix as well as any other media I wished to cast to the television. The bathroom was only slightly smaller than a typical hotel bathroom, if at all, with the only compromise being the toilet is parked at a position to abut the shower. If there was any compromise in the spaciousness of the room this was a perfect place to do it because it did not really affect ingress/egress at the shower.
The aesthetics of the room were a surprising plus. A natural wood tone suffuses the room as you proceed to the bed and exterior window. Bed, curtain, and carpet tones reflect and complement the natural wood tones of the furniture, cabinetry, and woodwork across the room. The room has a modern but not quite sleek look. Not quite sleek is not meant in a diminutive manner; rather, what could be sleek was instead tempered by a natural palette which beckons a feel of 1970s ranch-style homes.
Another plus feature, especially for those guests lazily inclined such as myself, was a curtain which when extended from the wall partitions the studio into bedroom area and living area. As the television swivels, and is slightly offset to each side of the curtain, it can be viewed by one, the other, or both sides of the curtain simultaneously if the curtain is not fully extended. The curtain does not compromise lighting of the now distinct areas because the formerly one but now two rooms are thoughtfully illuminated by floor lamps as well as chest-high sconce-type fixtures on the wall. This design was well-considered for my needs.
I should disclose that my stay was merely one night. I am not the multiple-day to multiple-month guest for whom this property was designed, and they would have much more more dependence on the service aspects of the hotel. I did note a 24 hour laundry was available. I would appreciate the round the clock availability of the laundry since I rarely am willing to dedicate two or three hours of a day off to household duties.
Finally, my favorite feature of the property was easily an indoor pool open from 9am to 11pm. Most properties in this market have outdoor pools which are great, but October marks almost certainly the seasonal closing of them even in the climate of the South, as nights often dip to the 60s and 50s at night here.
When I booked the studio just an hour or so before arriving, I was informed that joining the Hilton club thingy for free my rate would be $10 less, which brought my price for the studio to $131 for a Thursday night. The service from this foreign-accented fellow by the way was top shelf. I had a couple questions about the property which he could not answer on the spot; however, he quickly fetched answers for me by telephoning the relevant staff if the hotel. I requested a studio above ground level and despite heavy booking he got me what I wanted. There is a small patio outdoor area off the pool area which was lively with guests from all over the country so that if traveling alone one could participate in a scene convivial indeed.
I would absolutely recommend this property and I am very likely to repeat visits there especially to get my pool on in the coming...
Read moreOur home sustained water damage from an upstairs toilet malfunction over the Christmas holidays. The insurance company's housing department helped us get a room at Home2 Suites. Our family of four lived there for over FIVE MONTHS!
Breakfast is better than many hotel chains. It is served 6-9 weekdays, 7-10 weekends. Offerings include: cold cereals, milk, yogurt, coffee, juice, an assortment of breads, a daily rotation of oatmeal/grits/sausage gravy biscuits, multigrain waffles, fresh fruit, and prepared artisan breakfast sandwiches & egg dishes.
For the best selection, especially on weekends, get there early!
The hotel is very pet friendly. Pet areas are conveniently located.
There is an indoor saltwater pool, gym, outdoor fire pit, patio seating and laundry facilities. Make sure to have quarters on hand for the laundry machines as the front desk doesn't have them on hand.
The "business center" is essentially the lobby. So if you need an area for working quietly and conducting work business this may not be ideal.
The location is great, especially for out of towners. There is easy access to the interstate and Main Street. Boundless dining and shopping options surround the hotel. A movie theater is also very close by.
If you are looking for a quiet hotel, you might be disappointed. Road noise and traffic can be heard, more prevalent for rooms positioned on the front side of the hotel.
Weekends tend to be loud. The walls and floors do little to insulate noises from one room to another. You can hear every little noise in the hallways. Lots of stomping and banging from the floors above.
Some days were better than others. As a desperate measure, I had to sleep with earbuds in several times. As an example of how the sound carries, once we had a noise complaint called on our room for stomping and moving furniture but it was actually originating from the room directly above ours.
Rooms are comfortable, as far as hotels go. The beds and linens are upgraded for comfort.
Neutagena bath and body products are provided. An iron, ironing board and hair dryers are in each room. Most rooms have a good amount of storage. The TVs are large flat screens.
There is a nice desk area with a computer chair for setting up an in-room workspace.
The sitting area is not the most comfortable. Most of the sofas pull out for additional sleeping areas. This makes the sofas harder and lower to the floor.
Unfortunately, this also impacts trying to eat a meal in the room. The pull up table ends up being too high and awkward to eat at, especially for children.
If you are expecting full housekeeping services every day, you may be disappointed. Housekeeping services are not provided over the weekend.
I know that we weren't the typical guest, but I often felt like I was begging to get some of the basics each day. Daily service is pretty much switching out towels and removing trash, if you've gathered it up.
A full housekeeping service should be performed every 5 days. But this was rarely the case during our stay. If I didn't explicitly request it, it rarely happened. Sometimes even when I did make a request it wasn't done.
Overall, that would be my only real complaint about staying here. Most guests will have shorter stays than our experience and shouldn't encounter...
