Wayback Burgers — Restaurant in South Carolina

Wow. Went in for a quick bite - the first time in one of these locations. Employee ignored us at the counter. For several minutes. She was intent on filling orders apparently made online. There was a kiost. We ordered a chili dog. That was it. A single chili dog. She filled mustard bottles, BBQ sauce jug. Finally put the hot dog bun in a toaster. Assembled the dog. Poured liquid cheese she had taken from a LARGE BAG a few minutes before over the dog. I asked for onions - she took her gloved hand and scooped some onions out and deposited them in the middle of my order. Asking for a measly cup of water, we were told it would be$2.17. No. Miserable hot dog. Empty establishment. Enfriendly employee. And an $8+ hot dog. Never again.

EDIT 2/14/24 I finally looked at the receipt, yesterday. It has been folded up in my console for weeks. I hated even seeing it there. I realized I needed to make sure they charged us accuarately. THEY ADDED A TIP "on my behalf". A 15% TIP, unbeknownst to US. I just wrote to their corporate HQ with a message. On the day of the incident, when they asked me to contact them with more info - I did that happily. I spent quite a bit of time on that message.. no response or confirmation from the company. We stopped at this Walmart to get oil for the car. On the way out we saw Wayback burgers and were immediately drawn to how good the menu looked like. We decided to give it a try not expecting to much, it's in Walmart after all, right? Oh boy, were we wrong! My husband ordered the Big Easy and me and my 7 year wanted a BLT, and even though it wasn't on the menu, Cole made it happen! Talk about great customer service! Now, if you expect fast food, that is not the place. He made everything fresh and that took a little time, not to long, but longer then your standard fast food place. Once we started eating, we were blown. Everything was fresh and so flavorful! Even my 7 year old, who can be at times picky, loved every bite of it! Great service, amazing taste! Thank you! This place has went downhill drastically. I got a burger that was at best ok. The lettuce was gummy, the onions were far from fresh, and the cheese felt waxy. My wife ordered a chicken sandwich that was extremely dry and the cheese was hard. We also ordered Cajun tots and bacon cheese fries. The tots were burnt to a crisp, and the fries were soggy, the bacon looked like it was crispy at some point but now had the texture of a limp noodle. The cheese they used wasn’t the cheese you would expect. Instead it was sliced cheddar and I presumed tossed in a microwave to melt. After scraping off the topping of our sandwiches we were able to force down the food, but the sides were inedible.
