La Hacienda Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in South Carolina

I’ve had not great service basically every time coming to this restaurant. Ordering a margarita and automatically getting a bigger size without being asked, waiting for service when it’s not even busy, not being told about the amazing happy hour deals until after ordering other things, hidden charges that were not explained. I work food and beverage so i understand that they don’t choose these charges…. But I called in a to go order the other day and was told a total over the phone and then came with exact cash. Then I get there and there’s a takeout charge and also tax too. I don’t know why I was given a total without the fees. I ordered two things and they put a “take out charge” on each thing ordered.

The only reason we come back is because we have liked the food but today the food wasn’t even great. Just okay at best. There’s was another time it’s wasn’t great either but I just figured it was a bad day. Now I’m just seeing that it’s just not consistent…. so dining here is a gamble, and getting take out charges you extra…. and it’s still a gamble.

I see that the owner or manager responds to every negative comment with the exact same reply too…. Which is just lazy. The renovation looks great but before being renovated I would not get food there because it was gross… just dirty and we saw roaches. Go in for a nice dinner with the wife, had some teenagers in there, okay, no problem, however they were all drinking, no way these kids were 21, NO WAY. Plus they never carded us for our drinks, seriously doubt they carded them. I have kids older than the kids in there. Ignored it, ordered food and drinks, by the time food comes out things went South fast. The juke box they have can be connected to with an app from cell phones, the teens connected to it, had put on this hardcore teenager rap music, turned volume to the max, started doing that stupid dance that the kids do, I couldn't even hear my wife talking to me the music was so loud and obnoxious, asked wait staff to turn it down, she did, but the kids cranked it right back up. Had to get the food and leave our drinks not even 3/4 drank, I might have gotten two or three sips of my margarita. Cost me $60 too. Would have been better off getting steaks from food city, patron from package store, and margarita mix. The good tire my stomach up, the margaritas were trash too anyway. I do not recommend anyone go here unless your under 21 and want a place to drink. I think us, two other guys, and a lady all just left. My girlfriend and I were on a date night Saturday and showed up more than an hour before their posted closing time. We waited several minutes to be greeted even though several employees saw us waiting at the hostess stand. The restaurant was not busy, there were maybe two to three tables eating and a bar full of patrons drinking and eating. When we were finally greeted in a cold and uncomfortable manner, they told us the restaurant was closing but we could order take out. We were fine with that, at least we could get food. We ordered food and asked if we could wait for our order at the bar and have a drink, and the bartender huffed and explained they were closed. We explained we had to wait a few minutes for our food anyway, so she reluctantly served us a round of drinks. Several people at the bar seemed confused and even asked if they had changed their hours. We got our food and paid for everything and left quickly. The entire time we felt as if our presence was unwanted and a major inconvenience for them. The food was good, but that service and the way we were received made sure we won’t be going back...
