My wife went to this Food Lion location to purchase a money order. She had the proper credentials, yet the cashier refused to process the transaction and told her it wasn’t necessary to give her any explanation as to why. When I arrived shortly after, I was able to purchase a money order instantly with no issue. The only difference was that my wife is of Mexican descent.
When I asked to speak with the manager, I was told the “boss,” Greg, was on vacation. Another employee later admitted he had been there earlier. The cashier first claimed she didn’t know when Greg would be back, and then the other insisted he was unavailable. Which is it? Was Greg really there, or was I simply being lied to?
And isn’t the manager on duty supposed to be the acting boss? Instead of resolving the issue, I got nothing but contradictions and excuses.
Discrimination has no place in any business. Denying someone a service they are qualified for, refusing to give an explanation, and then lying about management presence is unacceptable.    Read moreThis is a complaint for Cashier #0206. She has the nastiest attitude I have ever experienced at food lion. If you don’t want to work then don’t. You choose the job, then do it right. I was checking out Sunday 6/16 at 2:25pm she was throwing the food everywhere & I had to bag it. I don’t work for food lion, YOU do. She kept asking me what is this what is that, it’s jalapeños and tomatillo. Don’t you know your vegetables ? I then proceed to pass my card, she hands me the receipt and I state I’m not finished paying she states “well you didn’t say that”. I don’t have to, you have eyes just like everyone else. I stayed quiet and proceed to finish. She didn’t even thank me at the end of the transaction nor did I receive a hello when we initiated the transaction. She seems to be a very miserable person, if you don’t want to work then you shouldn’t. If you NEED to work then be a respectful and polite human being. Attitude like that can make you loose your job and it’s not worth it especially if you’re in need of it. I am reaching out to corporate, she doesn’t seem to enjoy...
   Read morehave been a loyal Food Lion customer for many years. on my the last visit brought plastic bags to be recycled as the website had said would be possible. outside store were two big green containers as well as what looked like brown plastic garbage containers. none were labeled to help determine for sure. was directed back to the green containers by customer service. since they were not the same asked employee sitting outside for clarification. he said he has no idea but was helpful, opened both of them and found garbage in both. said "nice thought" and walked inside. went back to customer service and employee shrugged her shoulders. when I said it might be helpful to have them labeled she said she guessed she'd "tell them." told her was just reporting it and walked away. neither employee was obviously concerned that bags couldn't be recycled, especially customer service. may not shop...
