We stuck it out for 3 hours. At some point, waiting became an exercise in entertaining our morbid curiosity. What would we get after we waited so long? How many people would leave while we waited? How many people would actually be served? Would the food even be worth it? What would the restaurant offer as an apology? Only because we stayed to the bitter end can i answer these questions so that none of you need to endure the same fate.
When our food finally came, a full 1/3rd of order was forgotten completely. Two members of our party ate their food while the third sat sadly by, hoping for some crepes. In the end, did they apologize and rush the crepes to the front of the queue? No. They apologized and did us the courtesy of not charging for it.
While we waited, 6 tables left, at least 30 people. In that time, i only ever saw 3 tables, including ours, receive even a portion of their meal.
Of the 2 plates we did receive, half of it was overpriced, mediocre, typical Mexican food, and half of it was ok. Batting .500 isn't bad in baseball, but most people hold restaurants to a higher standard.
As for an apology, i honestly expected the owner to come over or our ruined meal to be reduced or comped. They took the non-alcoholic drinks off the tab and didn't charge us for food we didn't receive.
In the end, the service was atrocious, the food was mediocre, and the managements handling of the trainwreck was abysmal by the most gracious standards.
I'd say try this place in a few weeks when they get their act together, but at this rate, they wont be open for that long.
I'd give it negative stars if i could. Worst experience at any restaurant ever, including eateries in failed states and third wold countries. All of the reviews above 3 stars must be plants because this place is plainly...
Read moreSo I love mexican food but this was by far the worst mexican I've ever had. I decided to try somewhere new and try here but was that a mistake. First i notice how cheap they were by only playing netflix on almost each tv. Game me a bottle and a glass with ice. If it was a restaurant they shoulf of had it on tap and should of had the game going. They had mushrooms in my fajitas which why!? Charged me for every little thing like sour cream which should of been with the fajitas and didn't even have a kids menu! Almost 7$ for my kid to eat what they served him. Which was so small it looked like something you get off the 1$ menu at taco bell. Have about 3 servers they tried to help (not really) and no refills or asked if i needed one. I didnt even get asked if i wanted anything else and was handed my check. The food was also luke warm. I would of enjoyed it more if it didn't taste like it was sitting there all day. The salsa was probably the worst I've had from an authentic Mexican place little bit more spice and maybe more cut up tomatoes... over all food was way to expensive for warmish food and please hire people who aren't college students. So overall I would not be coming back and will stick to my fiesta fresh or my san miguel's way better for the price and...
Read moreI've always wanted to eat here as I see it when driving by Food Lion. Why...not sure.. I just love Mexican food and like to try different places. The food was horrible, and being a guy who eats just about anything, I'm surprised I'm writing this review. It was take out and had to drive home before eating, so maybe, just maybe it would have been better HOT as can be. But the taco fell apart from being too soggy and didn't have much taste, the enchilada was like eating rubber the enchilada sauce looked like barbecue sauce and had an unusual taste, the salsa looked promising at first but I was quickly disappointing after tasting it. It smells kind of old or something weird about it. Hope this saves another person when their really hungry and craving mexican food from being drastically disappointed by El Mariachi Mexican. I am now forever sworn to Fiesta Fresh and Mi Tierra, and promise to never to...
