We have been using Golis for years until now. We visited them to exchange a gold chain or to change out the clasp as it was too big to accept the jewelry for which it was bought. In addition to being unwilling to do this, they told us the clasp couldn't be changed out. As they advertise they "make" jewelry items we were amazed. The final blow was when the sales person told my wife "this isn't Target". With that rude and totally unacceptable comment, we left never to return again. On our previous visit we had the same rudeness and unwillingness to address a simple issue of cleaning a piece of jewelry purchased there 2 years ago. We thought it odd then but now have come to believe they just don't care about having repeat customers. After 10 years of trading with them we have found a new and much better jeweler with whom to do business and who seems to care about and knows how to treat customers. Also BUYER BEWARE. Returns are not accepted and the promise of an exchange is debatable at best. Post Script, after visiting another jeweler to see if they could help, they were able to change out clasp, and did so quickly and very willingly. They also accept returns on any of their products if you are not happy with them. A truly customer focused jeweler. We have decided Golis is not only not as good as "Target" but their behavior reminds us of...
Read moreI have been trying to found a jeweler in town that will size my ring in the store without sending it off to a different location. It's a previous opal and my main concern was the travel between Bluffton and wherever the ring is being sent off to because I don't want it breaking. I asked how much it was to size a ring and also asked if they size the rings themselves or if they send them off. The woman helping me responded with "I have helped some of my customers for 20 years. Some things we can size here, size and some things we have to send off so I don't know what to tell you if you don't trust us. We're not going to steal your opal!"
Stealing my opal wasn't the concern. Opals are one of the softest stones set in jewelry and I just wanted to know if they did it there so that it wouldn't get crushed in shipping but she made me feel like my jewelery wasn't worth the the trouble. She then started helping the next person in line. I would not recommend going here if you don't know anyone in the community. They seem good with the customers they have already but aren't very friendly...
Read moreI, too, found the service to be awful. Although they may try to make it a "personal" experience, I found that it did just the opposite for me. I don't have time for the chit-chat of Chris' biking and food regime, or his war stories. There was too much talking, and interruption from other staff and customers - and Chris (owner) allowed all these interruptions while I was standing there with my jewelry. It took MUCH longer than should have. And the saddest part is that after my order for a charm bracelet and necklace was to be changed, with written instructions that he asked me to write for him, I went back a week later after they told me everything was ready - and it was all screwed up! Chris had only done half the work of removing some charms from the bracelet - he never added the others. He also didn't make two of the charms into necklaces. I've had to make several trips back to the store, and still do not have my jewelry back. Hours of my wasted time for something that should have...
