I have been going to Dairy King for almost 20 years. The owner during this time was awesome! always working hard and taking care of her guests. What a fantastic lady! May I say thank you to her for all of her years of hard work and her dedication to the local community. She ran an excellent business. We knew eventually she would want to retire and has now sold to new ownership. Unfortunately, they clearly have no idea what they’re doing. They have cut back their hours, and are now only open until 8 PM most nights. when it’s warm outside like tonight at 8:00 PM historically Dairy King has lines all the way to the back of the parking lot… not anymore I’m afraid now they are closed @ 8pm. they’re too busy or lazy to run their business properly. It’s never any fun when new ownership ruins a business that has been a pillar in the local community for so long. It’s real simple you want to work in the food business be prepared to work the hours and take care of the guest if you want to work at a 9 to 5 job then work at a bank or get a financial degree. Failure soon to follow….So disappointing. I...
Read moreIf you are looking to relive memories of visiting your local dairy hut after a baseball game, this is your spot. Dipped cones, chili dogs, frozen bananas, team discounts, a lot of the classics. However, there are no burgers. Just hot dogs, fries, and onion rings on the savory side of things.
I got an all beef hot dog with chili and cheese. The chili was runny and the cheese was "cheese sauce". But, the dog was pretty good. Next time I'll get it with just ketchup and mustard.
I also got a cookies and cream earthquake (like a blizzard). Never mind that I ordered chocolate chip cookie dough (cookies and cream was my second choice, anyway). The ice cream was pretty mediocre and left me wondering if all the ice cream I loved as a child tasted this bad! I might just be spoiled by all the Mitchell's I've been eating lately.
Overall, I'd say it is mediocre for a small local dairy shack. Give it a try if you are in the mood for some nostalgia, or have 5+ little ones in uniform with you....
Read moreWhat a great local fav spot with HUGE portions! When we told the staff we only have Dairy Queen in Texas, they said “Dairy KING is one of a kind!” They have 3 soft-serve varieties - strawberry, vanilla, and chocolate which they’ll also swirl or combine in your cup or cone and you can even get toppings or a flavor shell. Plus, they have 15+ flavors of premium ice creams (we didn’t try), banana splits, multiple cone types, and lots more frozen dessert variations…and hot dogs and other food. Pet friendly and several bought pup-size treats for their dogs. The Large cup was too much for us on Day 1, and getting the Medium next day was still a lot of soft serve but we powered through - ha, ha! Park in back…line up in front to order at the window, and you can eat at a few picnic tables around back if you choose. Straight down same street as Little...
