Grille 55 — Restaurant in South Euclid

If I could not select any stars I would. I am a person that gives black businesses Grace if they have terrible service because I love supporting us . First I want to say that when one goes outside their home to spend money with a establishment good service is expected all the time. Especially when dining in. I have been wanting to try this place for a while because I heard good things about the food . My girlfriend and I went in on a Thursday evening at approximately 7:45 pm. When we walked in there was 2 customers sitting at the bar and approximately 5 people dining in, not busy at all. The woman behind the bar looked us in the face and said nothing. Not a welcome, good evening , someone will be with you shortly nothing! I ended up greeting her because I thought it was quite awkward for someone to work there and not greet your customers when coming in. Then we kind of walked in looking for a hostess to seat us . A young lady saw us looking lost and said , "y'all can sit anywhere y'all want". So we sat at the table right in the front. She turns around and sits down at the table in back of us and got on her phone. About 10 minutes later she comes over and gives us our menus and water and said I'll be right back . My friend and I engaged in conversation for a while browsed the menu made our selection , but after a while the young lady never came back to take our order. We noticed the same young lady chilling at the table in back of us still on her phone. My friend was like is that our waitress? I said it can't be because she would have took our order by now and she's just chilling on the phone right there in back of our table.

Finally my friend asked her after some hesitation are you our waitress, she said "yeah". Without no care in the world she didn't start to explain why she never came back to take our order or why she said she'll be right back and sat right in back of us playing with her phone, she actually said it with the attitude like yeah I'm your waitress... ok! We just got up and left.

This kind of service is unacceptable in any kind of establishment. I do support black businesses all the time . However, I am tired of establishments popping up all over the place with great food and poor customer service and treatment. We have to do better!

Some of us like to go out eat good ,spend money, tip well, have drinks but also enjoy great service while we're doing so. So perhaps they should train some of the staff on how to have exceptional service not just exceptional food.

I am a part of a large woman's group of over 26 people one of the ladies suggested this establishment to go to for one of our outings and meetings. We frequent restaurants sometimes twice a month. This establishment will not be one that I would recommend...

If you want soul food this IS THE PLACE! Tuesday September 19, 2023 I called asking if I could bring balloons because it was my friends 50th birthday and I was coming to meet her and her family there. I was pleasantly told yes. I was also asked how many would be in my party because they don’t take reservations. I didn’t know. Upon arrival the owner saw me with the balloons and informed me it was her I spoke to. Again I was asked how many would be in my party and I again didn’t have a number, but placed a call to find out, 17 was the number I was given. After providing the number I was told I would have to wait for my party to arrive before they could get the tables ready. After half of the party arrived we were quickly taken to be seated and when the rest of the party arrived they had no problem making the accommodations. Need to stop here and recognize the bartender who serviced me while I waited for the party to arrive. Not only was she polite, but not having a specific drink in mind I told her to make me something and she did NOT disappoint. The drink was sooooo good others in my party tried it and we drank it the rest of the night. I should’ve asked her to remember what she made because I’ll be back for it. Ok let me get to the delicious eats. No one in the party had ever been here so our two tables ordered several appetizers, heck I think we had them all. Mozzarella sticks, fried green tables, lobster bites, chicken fingers, fried calamari, soul rolls and wings. We didn’t leave not ONE crumb and the soul rolls actually ended up in a to go order. Now let’s talk dinner, 1 order of chicken Alfredo, 2 catfish dinners, 1 perch dinner and I think 4 lamb chop dinners were ordered from one of our tables, each dinner came with two sides. The other table had salmon and I honestly can’t remember what else, but I can tell you everybody’s hands, feet and mouth were doing the good eats happy dance. We were so elated we had to know if there was a grandma in the kitchen and babyyyyyy yes she was. She came out and we made sure she knew we enjoyed her blessed hands that well seasoned & flavored everything we ate, if she had help thank you too. In regards to the sides dishes there was mixed options chosen but, after one person at my table tasted the yams he jokingly asked us if they served pie crust because he was gonna make him a pie outta them yams that’s how bangin they were lol. Anyhoo I won’t continue typing to convincing you to go because I literally can go on and on. I will just end with saying that as long they stay open serving the way they did they have a lifetime patron in me. Phenomenal job Grill 55, take a bow...

We sat ourselves and waited 10 min for someone to come over and acknowledge us. The waitress brought us the menus and got us water. We had to ask for the drink menu. Neither menu had non-alcoholic options. I got the lemon drop that tasted like plain lemonade. Smh. When she came back we ordered. I got the fried green tomatoes for an app, Ceasar salad and the steak with veggies over rice. My husband got the fried calamari and catfish dinner. His mashed potatoes were not mashed, just big chunks of potato mixed in with a small amount of mash. The server brought all of my food out at the same time. Smh, so I already knew my entree was going to be cold because I had other food to eat first. I asked for well done steak and received med well steak. The fried green tomatoes were about as thick as a deck of cards and as hard as a rock. I ate one that was sliced thinner, they had no flavor whatsoever. So I just ate my salad until the server returned to the table so I could tell her about my steak. It took her 35 min. I told her it was not cooked to the right temp and now the whole thing was cold. She took it back and brought it back after 20 more min. The steak was cooked correctly but it was lukewarm, the rice and veggies were cold, but the plate was hot. Smh, I don't even know how you do that. I put it in a to go box and after flipping it over to where the bottom was on the top I felt just how cold it was and asked her to take it off the bill because I was not going to eat it. So long story long...I paid $95 to eat a Ceasar salad and drink a $16 lemonade. And left...
