Disappointed with Service at This Location – Clifton Is Much Better
I’ve always been a big fan of Noches de Colombia and especially love the Clifton location, which consistently delivers great service and food. Unfortunately, my recent visit to the South Hackensack location at 370 US-46, South Hackensack, NJ 07606, for a friend’s birthday was extremely disappointing.
I went with a group of friends and placed a simple request when ordering, I asked for the shrimp to be placed on the side, not together with my entree. The waitress acknowledged and confirmed my request, but when the food arrived, it wasn’t done correctly. On top of that, when the bill came, I noticed I was charged twice for the same meal.
When I brought this to the waitress’s attention, she insisted that I had ordered two meals, which simply wasn’t true. Two of my friends, who speak Spanish, even stepped in to explain to the waitress that I only ordered one meal. Unfortunately, the situation didn’t get any better when we asked for a manager.
To my surprise, the "manager" appeared to be very young and honestly seemed inexperienced in handling customer issues. Rather than investigating the situation or trying to understand the mistake, he simply backed up the waitress and said I had to pay for both meals.
To make matters worse, one of the main reasons we chose this location was because their website advertised music during the evening. However, when we arrived and asked about it, the waitress told us music wouldn’t start until 10 PM, which was much later than what we were led to believe. This kind of inaccurate and outdated information on their website is misleading and contributed to the overall disappointment of the night.
This entire experience was extremely frustrating. Not only did I have to wait while my friends ate because they had to fix my order, but I also ended up eating plain white rice while the rest of my meal was being corrected. In the end, I had to pay for two meals when I clearly only ordered one.
I understand Noches is a Colombian restaurant and many staff may primarily speak Spanish, but that shouldn’t be an excuse for a miscommunication when my order was clearly stated and acknowledged. Mistakes happen, but how a restaurant handles those mistakes is what makes the difference. This location failed badly. The manager didn’t offer a comp, a discount, or even a sincere apology.
There are many Noches de Colombia locations to choose from, and I highly recommend going to one of the others. The Clifton location, for example, has always treated us well. I won’t be returning to the 370 US-46, South Hackensack, NJ 07606...
Read moreThis was one of the worst resturant experiences of my life. Let me tell you why. Valets were cool. Walked in to be seated and the music was blarring so loud I had to say table for two twice, while yelling. The DJ was playing his music so loud that I had to yell to my girlfriend just to figure out what to eat. It seemed they were having some parties there in the same room, and every 10 minutes there was another birthday song which felt so cheesy and again insanely loud. The atmosphere was cheap and looked thrown together like the owners forgot this location. Felt more like a wannabe club than a resturant. For half the meal the party behind us was yelling up to raided seating area behind us. There were cheesy old picyures of meals on the walls that looked like you were eating at an old chinese resturant.
FOOD: When we ordered i had to yell and point on the menu to the waitress so she could hear me assumed the food would be good since other location and this had good reviews. The food was like your spanish aunt had cooked it the day before and rewarmed it back up in a big metal pan for the dinner and appetizers. Had chorizo con arepas which came out dry, luke warm and felt warmed up, and the arepa was dry. The empandas were poorly made and felt like they were frozen from a store and not made fresh. While eating the apps I was wishing we never ordered the meals. Then the main course, was skirt steak medium rare with garlic shrimp. The steak came out well done and gamey. The shrimp werent horrible but tasted precooked. The plantanes were dry.
I have been in working with restaurants for years and had my share taste. The whole meal was very poorly seasoned. I have had dozens of columbian restaurant experiences and been to hundreds of ethic and american restaurants and this was by far the worst food/experience. Only time in 10 years ive ever tipped so low. Will never go back to a Noches de...
Read moreI called and was advised the wait time was about 15 minutes. To make sure we secured our spot we did the wait list online and it showed my party as the number 5 on the list. Upon arrival I was informed that the online waitlist was not being taken into account and I had to resubmit my name in the list. We added our name to the list Again. The girl advised the wait would not be more than 5-10 minutes. We waited over an hour and decided to leave. When the girl in the front saw we were leaving she stated that our table was ready. I asked to speak to a supervisor. And the girl stated that the delay in my party getting seated was due to us adding our name to the wait list online and not having a table available for six people. Which didn’t make sense since she added my name upon arrival and advised the wait time was 5-10 minute and this place is huge. There is no way they could sit my 6 when multiple parties of 5 and 6 were seated before me. I asked to be seated since going back and forth was just adding to my wasted time. My complaint was then taken to a woman who claimed to be the supervisor. Not so sure that was true but ok. What saved my Mother’s Day lunch? …. Well the food and drinks were good and the waitress was a total doll. Would I go back NO! Why I decided to post my review? Well because it’s the principal of things. I had two small children and and elderly person with me. Had I been told that the wait time was over an hour I would have left from...
