The three stars applies to the weight of the food quality only, rest would score as a one star but I tried to balance and weight it out and give this place a fair score. When you first come in to the cafe the poor ventilated space will leave you no choice but to run home and change clothing as the bake, cook smell will be on your clothing and hair. The staff seems to be confused, I wanted a pizza pie and I asked the baker and had little English knowledge and told me to speak to”one of the girls” I ordered the pizza and a personal small mushroom was brought out to me a few minutes later. Pizza was good, not great or excellent. Another problem that will catch your eyes is the restaurant is full of flies, see photos. They even have a bug 🐜 zapper. To be fair I went four times and all four times multiple flies were seen inside the restaurant. The flies are all over the pizza, cakes and anything you may order to sit inside. The desserts 🧁/sweets, cakes are good but can be and I had better. The parking at times is limited and you’ll find yourself parking in the rear of the restaurant. If you eat outside you are sitting off the main road and breathing some pollution. The restaurant and cafe also sits across from a garage and the pollution of the damaged vehicles can be a problem, not healthy.

I know about Palermo’s because when I was doing research on NJ wedding venues, pretty much all of them were working with Palermo’s for the wedding cake. Fast forward about 3.5 years. I really wanted to get some sfogliatella for my sis + fam, who were visiting from Hawaii and there is another bakery that makes the best ones ever. Unfortunately, that bakery was closed on my sister’s last day in town, so l figured we’d check out Palermo’s, since they also wanted to bring some Italian cookies back home. The cookie selection seems okay, EXCEPT they don’t even have rainbow cookies! I did see that they had the sfogliatella, so we decided to give those a try. But it was a mistake. These looked (and tasted) undercooked. It didn’t have the nice golden brown color. No powdered sugar. No cream filling (even though when I asked the employee if it had any, she assured me that it did). Overall, it tasted old so I’m wondering when it was even baked. It was very dense, almost like a scone, and it definitely should not be like that. Don’t think I’ll be making a return visit anytime soon.

I wasn’t sure where to begin but it has to be with the incredible hospitality and attention to detail at Palermo’s. Our engagement cake was by far the best cake I’ve ever tasted, and the team built our dream cake far beyond our expectations from just two reference photos. We went with red velvet and French crème raspberry filling for our buttercream cake and we are so glad we did. So far we have had 3 people tell us that it was the best cake they have ever had. Leighann, the entire staff including the owners, and our delivery person were all incredibly kind and professional through the entire experience, and made us feel like family. Through the entirety of planning for our engagement party, Palermos was by far our favorite vendor experience by far. If you are deliberating between bakeries, you’ve found the perfect one at Palermos. Look no further. 100/10 I will be back any time I’m in town.

Update: The hostess reached out to us after our venue contacted them and they were opened the store up early so that we could get our tasting done with (since they were booked solid on the weekends for 2 months). They were very apologetic and made a real effort to fix their error.

We arrived 15 minutes early to our wedding cake tasting scheduled for 12:15 and were told that a consultant would be with us soon. We waited at their bar until 12:20 and then asked when we would be seated since it was passed our reservation time. The girl told us that they were running behind and that she would check to see how much longer. She never reappeared. We asked again at 12:40, and again she told us she would check and give us an approximate time and then never returned.

Finally, at 1 (when our appointment should have ended), we cancelled because they seemed unable to tell us when we would be seen and looking at her list there was at least one group listed before us. Their apologies for the wait too felt insincere and slightly condescending.

No where during the wait were we told exactly how behind they were which is something they should have been upfront about once we arrived. All we were told was that a consultant called out and the snow delayed them (which are not really excuses because the 4 inches of snow were off the road and melting and there should be a system in place for when a consultant calls out).

We were also not impressed that their parking lot was not plowed with of previous night's snow. As a busy business, it should have been plowed before the...

Extremely Disorganized. RUINED MY SON’S FIRST BIRTHDAY!!!

When my point person when to pick up my sons 2 birthday cakes, they FORGOT to give the main cake. They only sent the baby smash cake and put me on hold for about 40 minutes to see if they can have someone deliver the cake (with everything going on setting up the birthday I noticed an hour into the birthday party). When I called back, they kept putting me on hold because they likely didn’t want to deal with me. They absolutely ruined the first birthday, because the cake was not on display and the baby’s uncle had to go and get the cake since they weren’t answering about delivering. He was not able to attend the party for about a little over an hour because of this (an hour, we won’t get back missing his godson’s first birthday).

We very clearly requested either green or blue writing for my son’s birthday cake, and the writing came in pink, which didn’t even match the cake. The smash cake looks like I could’ve made it. It was just not cute. After complaining to them about this I spent $350 and they only gave me $150 back. It should’ve at least been a 50% to 75% or even a complete refund for ruining my son’s birthday because of their complete carelessness.

This is not the only event they’ve messed up….

Touching on another incident, my cousin ordered a three tiered graduation cake with them. They FORGOT to make it and said they had all the paperwork. It just might’ve went missing and instead gave us a blank white wedding cake that they said they can quickly remake for that client who’s cake it...

I’m very disappointed with my experience today at Palermo’s bakery..I go to buy a cake from the bakery and as I’m already there I’ve always wanted to try out their food, so I go ahead and place my order for a CHICKEN Cesar wrap, thinking it was a regular chicken Cesar wrap… I was not informed what was inside the wrap and their menu on the wall did not have anything written below the menu of what is inside the wrap so in my head I assume it’s ONLY CHICKEN!! I get to my car and couldn’t wait to go home to try the wrap, as I took a bite I notice an extra flavor with the chicken and was curious what else was added to my wrap besides chicken lettuce and tomato.. I notice bacon on my wrap, so as I’m still in their parking lot and couldn’t get down because I have a newborn in the car with me I call the bakery and told them I was there 5 mins ago and asked if my wrap had bacon inside and if yes, is it pork? I was told yes there’s pork bacon in my wrap.. and once I told her on the phone I can’t eat bacon her response was “why are you allergic” I respond “no it’s against my religion to eat pork” and her response was “oh” 2 mins of silence and no apology.. I was told “there’s nothing we can do and hangs up on my face”… very disappointed with Palermo’s bakery in little ferry!! Don’t recommend going there with terrible service, and as I was paying for my order I was charged twice and was told to insert my card again… DONT RECOMMEND THIS BAKERY ESPECIALLY IN...
