We had a very nice evening at the cake lounge for Valentine’s Day. Service food and decor were wonderful. Restaurant had a prefix menu for the holiday. It would’ve been nice if it was printed on better quality paper than normal every day printer paper. I can give you guys a quote if you want for the next holiday. My only complaint was our table top kept on swinging and was not tight on the table legs. I did let someone know when we left. The noise level was rather quiet which I appreciated. Food was scrumptious. Service was on point. Pricing wasn’t that bad at all. The cake at the end of the night was very tasty. I would give this restaurant a second try on a non-holiday evening.

Excellent Italian cuisine in a plush white tablecloth setting. After having wine, along with the nice crusty warm Italian bread and salads, we opted for the Chicken Gennaro and the Cavatelli. The sauces on both these dishes was extra flavorful as was the the tenderness of the chicken. The veggies and cubed potatoes served with the Gennaro were done perfectly. For desert we had coffee along with the three flavor gelato, with the hazelnut flavor my favorite. Friendly and attentive service by Denae and her team. The upstairs restaurant has a fully appointed bar area and elevator access along with an outdoor seating area. We left full and satisfied.

We went there for a 6:30 pm reservation on a Friday night. The place was pretty empty except for two other tables and the staff walking around. Because it wasn't that busy, the staff was very attentive and always coming around filling in water and even cleaning the table of crumbs. The food was great! We started off with the cheese board to go with our wine. Admittedly the cheese board was just one kind of cheese and then just meat and olives. For dinner I got the Chicken Verona, and it was pretty delicious. All in all, it was a nice night out. Then after we went to the Brix City brewery behind the restaurant and had some great local craft beer!

Came here a few months ago for dinner and would have to say that I was very excited to try the place. Then again who wouldn't with a name like "The Cake Lounge" (lol) Anyways as soon as we entered, we were seated right away. The ambiance was great and service was on point. We came here with a groupon and as soon as we opened the menu, we knew we would end up spending more than the voucher, which we were okay with.

At first they didn't have the bottle of Mondavi that we wanted so they recommended an alternate, which I will have to admit, neither of us was a fan at all (Canyon Road, Pinot Noir). We realized rather quickly it was cheap brand of wine once we tasted it and both got headaches after the second sip. After I looked it up, found it was worth $5, it was marked up to close to 6x the price. I completely understand the markup in alcohol but at least mark it up with a good cheap wine. So I definitely felt ripped off like no other.

We ordered the Caprese as an appetizer, which was very good, not to mentioned very well presented. As main dishes, we had the Pasta Classico and a chicken with mushroom dish, which I forgot the name. The pasta classico was great! We loved the penne vodka so that was the highlight of our meal next to the caprese. The chicken breast sauteed with mushrooms, however was just okay. It was just "eh", to the point we only ate a 1/4 of it and took the rest home.

All in all, the atmosphere and service like I mentioned earlier was on point. When it comes to price, the food menu was okay but the wine menu on the other hand we found to be extremely overpriced for their selections. Food was a hit and miss, we really enjoyed the Caprese and the Pasta...

I went there for my 1st anniversary with my wife. I wanted to surprise my wife because The Cake Lounge offers to remake your wedding cake (just the top) for free if you dine at their restaurant. I was so excited to surprise my wife with the cake. Unfortunately there was a miscommunication with the staff and the cake was never made....... now the important part. How did they make this right?? The manager offered 20% off, free desserts and the manager said he will personally deliver my recreated cake TO MY HOME. At first, I was still really upset. But we are all human. Mistakes happen but it's how an establishment handles their mistakes that makes an impression. I was impressed with the customer service and management.

As for the restaurant, it's a nicely decorated small restaurant that has delicious food with large portions. My wife got a meal with chicken and eggplant which was delicious. I got the chicken Verona which consisted of a "chicken cordon Bleu" type of plate with prosciutto, asparagus and fresh mozzarella stuffed inside of a chicken breast. It was absolutely amazing. We also tried the risotto of the day which was mushroom. The risotto itself was delicious but the mushrooms were a little bit bland. It didnt add much flavor to the risotto.

Overall, considering how the meal started, the cake lounge really turned my experience around. Both my wife and I left happy which was the most important part of our night. Thank you guys for making our 1st Anniversary together...

I have been here three times and while some things have been good (like the sauces on the pastas) this looks like a restaurant that is trying to cut costs because they opened up a higher scale place than the area could support. I eat out every night of the week and see the crowds or lack thereof in all of our North Jersey restaurants. To be a high end restaurant you must serve fresh food (not diner food) and to do that you must have enough people coming thru to make that happen. I don't see that in this place: they have an awkward location in a lower middle class area with higher middle class prices. They have an association with the bakery downstairs which is how the family made their money but yet on 2 of 3 times at the restaurants the bread was not fresh but reheated. The help is only somewhat motivated in the restaurant's success and i saw no sign of a manager in three visits in prime time dinner hours. If you want to go you better go soon because my prediction is that this place will not...
