Taqueria Tepatitlan Spencer — Restaurant in South Houston

Horrible new staff So let me just start by saying I've been going to this restaurant for 15 years since the age of 15 the food is amazing I've invited plenty of friends and family who've never ate there for birthday dinners dates and what not. So I ordered 2 appetizers A plate of Nachos and Queso Fundido so EVERY SINGLE TIME I have ordered nachos from here they always come with the Yellow melted cheese. (They are very delicious by the way) Well after a 30 MINUTE WAIT they bring me out a plate of Nachos with white melted cheese on them I told waiter "hey this is wrong they're supposed to come with yellow cheese" they served looks confused as she asked me what kind of Nachos I wanted exactly while pointing at the menu. I point at the picture where they literally have melted yellow cheese on them. AFTER ANOTHER 30 MINUTE WAIT they bring me a my APPETIZER. (a appetizer should not take a hour to get right. Anyway she asks if I need anything else I told her yeah where's my Queso Fundido with Fajita in it she looks surprised as she completely forgot to put that on the order she hurrys to the back and surprisingly it only took about 10 minutes for that to come out but to my surprise it was YELLOW MELTED CHEESE. Never in my life have I seen a Queso Fundido with yellow cheese it's supposed to be White quesadilla cheese. I looked at it in confused and said no it's supposed to be White melted cheese she said let me go to the back and see if we have any she came back and lied and said there wasn't any. I know there was because they literally brought out the first order of Nachos covered with white melted cheese!!! So I told her I don't want that take it back. I finished my food and paid I told the guy up front that I've been coming here for over 10 years and never had any problems he then informed me they got a new staff in the kitchen. Not thinking I swiped my card only to be heart broken driving down the street when I realized THEY CHARGED ME FOR BOTH APPETIZERS $38 for a couple kids lemonades a coke & a plate of Nachos! I hope they get it together or me and my family are never ever...

Horrible service! Had lunch with my family around 2pm there was about 3 other tables there aside from that the place was empty pretty slow so you’d think the waitress would be on top of our table being attentive. She wasn’t ! Brought out or drinks didn’t get straws, 10 mins went by had to ask another waitress for them. My mom was the first one to order, when the food came my moms plate never came , after waiting almost 20 mins for her plate she had to cancel that! When the chips and salsa were done we had to ask the server 3 times to bring more. My family had ordered a parrillada didn’t bring the tortillas. Not surprised took them a while to bring those as well since we had to remind them of that ! Some of the tortillas weren’t cooked all the way. The entire time we were there about 5 waitresses were just standing in a corner gossiping while it took us forever just to get one thing. Not once did any of them bother to check on the table see if we needed anything was everything ok , instead we had to keep flagging someone down as if nobody knew how to do their job. Will not be returning. You want bad service this is the place to go they ignore you & expect a tip ? I don’t think so I was a waitress myself & you gotta work for the tip & be attentive to your table mc Donald’s has better service than this place

UPDATE: Hubby & I went again on a Friday night was pretty busy. This time I had a different server she was on top of everything. Again the food was great! This time I got great service !!...

We used to come here once a week for years! I've been coming to this restaurant since I was a kid. It WAS everyone in our family's favorite place, but the new owners have ruined it. I don't see this place being open much longer. Since the change in ownership, we have tried it 3 or 4 times hoping for some improvement, even after the new people asked for our opinion, but it is just getting worse. Every time we have tried to come back, they are completely empty. This place used to be packed. We went last night and it was just us (family of 4) and 1 other table. There were 2 servers, the manager (I'm assuming. Some skinny guy that never came to check on anyone.) And the cook. It took well over 10 minutes to get our drinks. The tea tasted like it came from a container that has never been washed. It was so gross. The chips that we were finally served were literally crushed into 100s of pieces, and they were soft like they had been sitting in oil. Our waitress was talking so low that we could barely hear her. We kept having to ask her to repeat herself. The food was gross. The meat was very chewy, and the tortillas... I don't even know how to describe them. Store bought would have been better. I'm sad that a restaurant that did so well, had amazing food, and was a staple for so many people has been ruined in just a matter of months. This is the first year since I was little that we will not be doing our big family dinner dinners at tepatitlan. I wish the old owners would...
