A group of 10 women in my family came here Saturday for dinner and it was the worst service we've ever received, and unfortunately it was from multiple employees.
The girl who took our order must have been new, so when she put my order in completely wrong I wasn't too bothered by it. When I told the waitress who served us that I didn't get the right food, she took out the receipt and said, "Well it's not on the receipt..." to which I said, "Then she must have put it in wrong. This isn't what I ordered at all." The waitress just stared at the receipt. Being the relaxed person I am I finally said, "I'll just try it and hopefully I'll like it." Being pregnant with a particular appetite, I was barely able to get two bites down and decided to go to the front and reorder. The girl at the front was apologetic and retook my order.
I wish this was the only issue we had.
By that time, everyone but two people in our group had received their food. One of them finally received her meal as everyone else was halfway done, as well as the group after us had all received their food.
One person in our group, when ordering requested a specific dessert. After we sat down, they informed her that the desert was all out, even though it was there when she ordered it. They told her she'd have to go up to the front to get a refund and order a different dessert. After waiting 10 minutes for the only person there who was said to be able to give refunds, she gave up and sat down. Her other dessert she ordered came, but her food never did.
10-20 minutes after everyone else finished eating, my food came out, so I asked for a to-go box. The person in the previous paragraph still hadn't received her food. She requested a refund and had decided to pick something else up on the way home.
This is when the two kindest, most timid people I know stood up and went to the front to demand to talk to someone about our service experience. One of these people I've never seen mad in the 4 years I've known her. They were both upset.
The original girl at the front went to the back, then came up front to tell them that the manager won't come out. When they talked to others working there, they said that she wasn't there or that she's busy cooking. They all gave different answers. But the two women from my group pushed and someone gave them a phone number for someone higher up.
Someone offered the food that was never delivered to our table, but it had been clearly sitting out and had gone cold. The girl in my group insisted she wanted a refund and some time later the refund was finally brought out.
This is the only time I've ever seen the people I was with not give a tip.

I’ll start off saying I used to love Schmidt’s and would come here throughout the year for treats as well as every February for my birthday. This was my last time though, I’ll find a new bakery that has their business put together. Long story short ish, I called and ordered my birthday cake which was suppose to be a 7 inch cake with all chocolate buttercream on the inside(3 layers of frosting) and German chocolate only on the top. My husband went to pick it up and when he got home I realized they gave me an 8 inch, one layer German chocolate cake. I called, explained what happened and the manager told me to bring it to the south jordan store and they would see what they could do. ( this is where my cake was made, although picked up at the redwood location) I asked if they could just remake what I wanted so when I got there I pick it up and go as I am a nursing mom and don’t have lots of spare time. She agreed and said it would be ready in an hour. I brought back my old cake and she gave me the new one, before I left I asked if it was all chocolate buttercream on the inside with just the coconut on top and she said yes! Yay:) I was excited as my husband and a lot of my family don’t like coconut. Left happy, no big deal. Well when I went to cut into my cake that night I discovered it was German chocolate on the inside. Really?!? When I specifically asked the manager and she said yes?!?! So I called the next morning and after an exhausting phone call of being continuously put on hold so she could consult with the “decorators” she agreed to remake it and I could pick it up the next day at the redwood store as long as I brought back my old cake, to which I replied sweet, yeah I can do that but it’s half eaten.( some of us so like German chocolate and coconut) she quickly put me on hold again to talk to the decorators. This is the MANAGER!! Why do you need to consult with them? Comes back on the phone and says well the owners are going to have to see what they can do for me. Seriously?! You messed up my cake TWICE! I get a call a few hours later saying that they will give me a 5 inch, one layered cake. As pictured. It’s barely as big as my hand. After all the trouble and their screw ups especially by the manager all I get is a wasted $20 and a single serving chocolate cake. Thanks. Would not recommend to anyone ordering a special order cake. Read moreI walked in soooo excited to be there I had driven by this place for years and never stopped I didn't know what to expect. Presentation was beautiful everything looked delicious I asked the lady if she could explain some of the items to me and she did, she was polite didn't smile didn't make comments, talk back to me it didn't matter what I said there was no response to anything she didn't partake in my joy and excitement of being there for the first time. The rest of the people on the front end kind of the same way it was a very disappointing to be so excited and making comments about how items were so beautiful and all looked so delicious and I got nothing back 0. The only person that smiled at me and talk to me was the person that handed me my sandwich and I told her thank you and she said you're welcome have a nice day and smiled at me, nobody else smiled at anybody nor did they have a conversation with anybody they were like unhappy robots I don't know if the people there don't like their job or if something happened before I got there but it wasn't what I would call good customer service. I was so excited and she wouldn't even smile at me and feel my joy of being there for the first time. There are so many different food items I wanted to try I bought several $40 but I want to go back and try their sandwiches and their soups and breakfast stuff but I'm not sure I will go back because customer service is everything and this place lacked it.
