I went in yesterday and talked with a nice employee about their rates and looked around at what they have - here's the bottom line:
They base trade-in value on "what we can reasonably sell a set for - not necessarily highest eBay value, and condition of that set" I was repeatedly told that they'd have to see the set before making any real, estimated offers, so plan to bring them in if that's the case Here's the big one - trade-in value is around 50% store credit or 30% cash of that "reasonable selling value". For example, if a set seems to be going for about $50 used online, and you have all pieces, minifigs, and instructions, expect to be paid about $20-25 for it in store credit. Pretty rough, IMO! These rates are to be expected for a brick & mortar (pun intended) store trying to make a profit and keep the lights on, which is why I've not started my own store yet! Haha The upside: used sets tend to be selling for pretty reasonable prices - it didn't look like they disassemble and verify sets, so you have to hope all pieces are there, and they have a disclaimer on the sales tag that mentions that pieces may be missing or substituted. They don't seem to track if a specific set is missing or substituted pieces, so good luck. I think they should try to get a "history" of a set sold to them based on the (hopefully honest) seller and keep notes (i.e. smoke-free home, one owner, all pieces, displayed only, etc) Not all sets are well priced - it looks like their "new" selection is over normal retail - even for sets still in stores. They also carry bulk Lego (I did not find out the rate, but I'm sure you can call), and minifigs ranging from about $5-20 each. Opened CMF figs average around $10.
My Verdict: Check it out if you're looking for a retired used set, or just used set - they may have it! Maybe plan to sell elsewhere unless you really...
   Read moreWent into this store today for the first time after driving by it weekly for the last 3 months. My daughter was in heaven! She recently got really big into Legos and probably could have stayed for hours if she wasn't ready for lunch. The employee - long red hair - didn't get his name was EXTREMELY helpful! My daughter saw a Stitch mini fig and when she wasn't near me, I had told him I wanted it but didn't want her to know. He quickly got up and made sure she wasn't paying attention to him and took it out of the case and up to the register. She needed a couple of spare parts for her double decker bus that she thought she was missing. He just got on his tablet ans checked the part sizes of this set without us even asking if he would have an idea of what parts the set used. He just looked it up! He explained the process of obtaining used sets. As we got to the register, I was trying to get my daughter out of the store but he caught onto what I was doing. He already had stitch in a bag and acted like nothing and said let me bag those (spare parts) and I didn't realize he had even put stitch in the bag. He didn't say my total out loud because she would have for sure caught on. He was very discreet on to my daughter. I'm excited for her to open the bag at a random time and see that she also got a stitch.

   Read moreStaff was extremely rude I was trying to have a custom set of instructions made for a set I modded. The employee who handles that refused to meet or discuss with me before hand I made several attempts to contact him I was quoted a price over the phone by another employee I then dropped the set off to not here back for several weeks and after several more attempts to contact the employee in charge of making instructions I finally had to get the owner involved to find out the status of the instructions then to find out the price I was quoted over the phone was wrong. I was originally quoted a price of $150.00 upon talking to the owner come to find out it would cost almost $1,200.00. At that point I told him i would come pick up the set and not be dealing with them anymore. From start to finish they held my set for almost 3 months and waisted my time without producing anything all because there goblin of an employee refused to come out of his office on the basement of the store and talk to a customer or even look at the task before quoting a price. Massive waste of time I also found out the owner of this location also owns the slc location I won’t be back to...
