I rarely post reviews online but after our experience at Tsunami last Friday I couldn't resist. 7pm, reservation for two. We arrived 5 minutes early and were promptly seated. Everything went smoothly, we were quickly greeted, drinks and appetizers came out on schedule, our order was taken and our food arrived. The quality was okay, not the best in the Salt Lake area but it was good. Our server was friendly and attentive. The restaurant was not busy for a Friday night. We finished eating at approximately 8pm, our server asked if we would like desert and we declined. Our bill came, we paid and the server returned with my card. We still had a few pieces of sushi on the table and our drinks were about 1/2 gone. We were chatting as we finished and I hadn't yet signed. An individual dressed in an ill-fitting kitchen apron approached our table and asked how our meal was. I was thinking it was the manager as this often occurs in restaurants. We said it was good and thanks for asking. He replied, "I'm going to ask you to leave now so we can prepare the table for our next guests". Ummm what? I was shocked. Food still on the table, drinks 1/2 gone and we had only been there an hour. There was nothing on their website or at the restaurant limiting our time and there were no people waiting in the lobby or outside. Our bill had just arrived and I hadn't even had time to sign it. For two of us it was $150.00 before the tip. Okay, I can understand if we were camping on a table while people were waiting. If we didn't still have our food and drinks, and if we had been there for a couple hours, but give me a break, being asked to leave as we were was REDICILOUS!!! I looked at this person and said, "I've never been asked to leave a restaurant before, we haven't finished and I still haven't signed the bill", he stiffened, stepped aside to give us space to stand up, pointed at the door and said, "please leave now". WOW! We collected our coats, stood up, and told him we would leave as he asked and that we would never be back. We walked past all of the empty tables and left, marveling at the lack of a single person waiting for a table. Be warned,...

If you're ever looking for a meal that's so good it makes you question your life choices (like why you didn't order more), Tsunami in South Jordan, Utah, is the place to go. My taste buds had a wild ride, and frankly, I'm not sure they've recovered yet.
Let's start with the gyoza, which was as close to perfection as I've ever seen. These dumplings were practically holding a therapy session on my plate, saying, "It's okay, you don't need to share us." Crispy on the bottom, tender on the top, and served with a dipping sauce that I can only assume was brewed from the tears of angels.
Next, we moved on to the sushi, which could only be described as the sushi equivalent of a red carpet event. The roll looked so perfect I almost felt bad eating it... almost. But then, I took a bite, and all those feelings of guilt went out the window. This sushi roll had layers of flavor that unraveled like a plot twist in a telenovela.
Now, onto the tempura. You know how sometimes you get tempura and it’s just a greasy mess? Not here. The tempura was light, crispy, and had the kind of crunch that makes you feel like you're in a satisfying ASMR video. I felt like a food critic from a fancy magazine as I dipped each piece into the sauce, which was so good I’m convinced it has magical properties.
Overall, Tsunami is the kind of place that leaves you full but also slightly panicked because you realize you have to wait until the next visit to experience this level of food-induced happiness again. So, if you find yourself in South Jordan and have an appetite for deliciousness, don’t miss out on this culinary wave of awesomeness. Just be prepared to get hooked, because one visit won't be enough!

Read moreI visited the South Jordan location today for lunch to celebrate my birthday and I was one of the very first people there at opening at 11:30. I was seated at a table nearby the entrance right away, however my table was pushed within inches of another table where a couple was seated a few minutes after I was. They were attended to by a server shortly after, whereas I was not attended to, and after waiting 20 minutes after being seated without a server I requested to be seated elsewhere.
At the new table, I was eventually attended to by a server who I have no complaints with, he did a good job, although in total it was an hour from the time I was initially seated to the time I received my meal, while I noticed that most everyone who had entered the restaurant and seated after me had received their meals long before I had. I used to enjoy my experience at Tsunami and have been going there for a long time, but after my experience today I doubt that I will ever be returning again. I feel like I was discriminated against, possibly for being a party of 1, rather than being a larger party, which felt like it was just adding insult to injury.
I am quite disappointed with my overall experience today, leaving a bad taste in my mouth. So much for my being proactive and getting there early to beat the lunch rush, only to be ignored and forgotten as a customer, in addition to wasting precious time especially since time is generally even more scarce mid-day on a week day. It's really too bad because it used to be one of my favorite go to restaurants. I left feedback online and received a call back saying they were sorry I had a bad experience, but no offer to help correct it or make up for my bad experience. I can no longer recommend this place, I have no...
