Food is decent but I find the staff to be very rude and ignorant. The place is busy so they treat you like they are doing you a favor by letting you patronize the business. My latest experience involved my wife calling to order takeout. She ordered two eggplant parm dinners. The wait was an hour for pickup. I arrived to pick up the meals, and after waiting a little while to be assisted, I was able to give the server my name and order info. When I told her that I had ordered two eggplant parm dinners, she gave me a disgusted look and said, "Well, I have two veal parm dinners in your name," not apologizing for screwing up the order but implying that my wife had somehow ordered the wrong thing. I told her that it definitely should have been eggplant parm and my wife never would have ordered veal parm as she does not eat red meat. I get an eye roll and she offers to "re make" the meals for me. I didn't feel like standing there for another hour so I said, "No thanks," and left. About an hour later, the phone rings at the house. My wife picks up and it's a server from the restaurant. My wife thinks they are calling to apologize for the mix up. Instead, the server started scolding my wife. The server starts going off on her about how she understands there was some mix up in her order but that they "re made" the meals and that my wife was financially responsible for those meals. My wife tried to explain how it was their mix up and how they had prepared the wrong meals and how they were never asked to re make the dinners. The server just continued to scold her, still implying that this was somehow our fault, again stated that, "In the future, you'll be financially responsible for these meals," and hung up. There are plenty of fine restaurants in south county. Take your business somewhere where it will be...
Read moreDespite rave reviews from many, the wood fired pizza is floppy and doughy on everything but the crust. The owner was rude (maybe a bad day/night so I give him the benefit of the doubt) about something so minor that I am embarrassed for him more than me feeling berated for taking a wobbly barstool into my own hands. I agree placing a wine menu on the floor under the chair leg wasn't the best solution, but the waiter was aloof and staff underwater so I quickly solved the issue without much thought. Later as my family and I ate, the owner appeared by my shoulder out of nowhere asking if the wait staff was "responsible for this" pointing angrily at the wine menu on the ground. I will spare the details of the rest, but instead of politely coming over with a couple of their plastic shims (there is a drawer full of them so it's obviously something they've understood is a challenge and have a solution on hand to solve for the small inconvenience of a wobbly chair), he instead comes over to make a spectacle of the situation. I will leave it at that. A dictator run establishment I am sure. The wait staff seemed mortified of him and I understand why. Also, don't ask for a wood-fired pizza to go. Your request will be denied. It is simply NOT ALLOWED. Very strange energy there and terrible leadership at the helm who treated a harmless situation as a calamity to man (his menu on the ground). Needless to say, I will not be back. For an amazing pizza, try...
