A Disappointing Experience at Sushi Sake Westchester
I recently dined at Sushi Sake Westchester, and unfortunately, I cannot help but express my disappointment with the entire experience. As a passionate food enthusiast and a frequent patron of various sushi restaurants, I had high hopes for this visit. However, it proved to be far from the culinary delight I had anticipated.
My primary concern stemmed from the portions served at Sushi Sake Westchester. When my order arrived, I couldn't believe my eyes; the portion sizes were minuscule, to say the least. It left me feeling not only hungry but also cheated. I understand that quality often surpasses quantity in fine dining, but this was an extreme case. I had expected a decent serving of sushi, but what I received were bite-sized morsels that left me yearning for more.
To make matters worse, when I brought this issue to the attention of the manager, I was met with a response that only added insult to injury. The manager assured me that the portion sizes I received were "the normal" at Sushi Sake Westchester. It was evident that this response was disingenuous, as my prior experiences at sushi restaurants in the same price range have consistently offered more generous portions. The blatant denial of the issue only served to exacerbate my disappointment.
In addition to the underwhelming portion sizes, the service I received during my visit was far from satisfactory. The staff seemed disinterested and inattentive, making it difficult to enjoy the dining experience. It's unfortunate that a restaurant with such potential failed to deliver on the promise of both quality and service.
All in all, my experience at Sushi Sake Westchester was nothing short of a letdown. The combination of the small portions and the manager's lack of transparency regarding this issue left a sour taste in my mouth. I had hoped for an exceptional dining experience, but I left feeling unsatisfied and shortchanged. I sincerely hope that Sushi Sake Westchester can address these issues and provide a more fulfilling dining experience for its patrons...
Read moreMy mom was in town and I decided to take her for a quick lunch on mother’s day. Considering I don’t see her often and this was a special day... the staff here really ruined it for us. For starters, the restaurant was quite empty and they had plenty of staff so there was no reason why they should have fell short. My mom and I had plans, so we just wanted a fast bite. We arrived at 3:45 PM and did not leave until 5:15 PM- only ordered 3 things to share. When our waitress Maria Rodriguez came to greet us, we were ready to place our very small order. After about 40 minutes, she came back to let us know that our one sushi roll had been taken by another staff member so they will have to remake it (not my business, just get it done.) We had to go inside every time something was needed, maybe she forgot about us since we were sitting outside but not once did she come back to fill our waters or simply check on us.. Or maybe their strategy is to take care of all carry out orders first. When she finally remembered we existed, I requested the desert with the brownie and fried ice-cream and only the fried ice-cream was brought. At this point, we just wanted to leave so I brought it to her attention and returned the untouched item then requested a manager. Katherine came to the table, after expressing my concerns and overall experience she gave us the most dissembling apology and stated that as a “courtesy” she would remove the desert from our tab all while smiling and blaming the new waitress- again, not my business just take care of the customer. She did not offer to bring out the correct dessert or apply a discount just continued to awkwardly smile, then asked if there was anything else she can do for us. I told her that quite frankly; I shouldn’t have to pay my $30 check. Katherine stated she cannot do this because of policy but would apply a discount. She discounted exactly $3.00 off… this was a slap in the face. I would have happily paid the inexpensive tab if the service was good but I was embarrassed to have even brought my mom here on her...
Read moreMy experience to say the least was less than pleasurable, my boyfriend and I were leaving a venue a little later than expected so we weren't able to go to out usual sushi spot. So we searched for late night sushi places, we decided we'll give it a shot. To say the least, the fact that it was open late, and the rolls for the most part were fresh and delicious, that was where the benefit of this place died out.
Our server took over 10 minutes to greets, I'm a retired server, it was not even close to busy enough for that delay, especially with them having ear pieces to communicate, that should NEVER happen. Took forever to bring us our waters, and once our food arrived, we didn't see her again (at least stopping at our table) until the check was due, and suddenly the customer service switch turned on for her.
Now for the food part: The sushi was pretty good, I got the black jack roll, which was good minus the water downed and very cheap eel sauce which was almost caramel color, the normal color for eel sauce is black. Even buffets don't mess up the sauces!! I also got the Kendall roll which was really good, it's a mix of tuna and hamachi, cucumber and asparagus (always a go to for me is mixed fish rolls). My boyfriend ordered the California eel, which was also delicious, had nice pieces of eel on top. As for his TNT roll (which based from the name sounded awesome) the reality of this roll was slim to it's description. The eel in this roll of skimpy in amounts and it was overly dressed with the cheap eel sauce. To say the least, we were disappointed, and aren't planning on ever returning again, not after spending $55 at a restaurant that had too many disappointments. For that we go to a buffet that offers the same freshness, better sauces, and faster and more...
