The girl who answered the phone was not very professional and was rude as if I were bothering her. It was an hour before closing, so it was not last minute. I asked if she could add cheese to the garlic bread, and she just flat out said, "Nope." Why? It wouldn't take much effort. There is pricing on the menu for extra stuff that can be added to the pizzas and salads. Upon arrival to pick up my order, the only lighting outside the entrance was just a very dim yellow rope light around the edge of the roof that provided not near enough light to be safe, and not even the store sign was lit. If i hadn't known where the place was already, I probably wouldn't have found it on the dark side street. The pizza and garlic bread were ok. The salad was just lettuce and a parmesan cheese packet with the salad dressing on top of the lettuce in a large drink cup and was $4.50. There was pricing on the menu for extra items for the salad, but it was not made clear that it meant for additional items not already on the salad. I assumed that the items came on the salad, and if you wanted more of those items, that is when the extra cost came into play. So, to add what would otherwise be on a garden salad like tomatoes, cheese, croutons, etc, anywhere else was charged separately here, and I have never experienced that...
Read moreI’ve eaten at Tony’s Pizza since 1975. It was ALWAYS consistent until today. I live in southern Utah and when I have had the opportunity, Tony’s WAS always on my places to eat. My friend, who was raised down the street from Tony’s, and was raised in Ogden in the 60’s and 70’s, was blown away by how bad it was. The salad had so much vinegar on it, it gagged us. The garlic bread, although looked the same, wasn’t. Zero flavor. Then the pizza came out and I swear I have had better frozen pizza. Thin crust, burnt and like a thick cracker, a stain of sauce, and very little cheese. Hardly any mushrooms (pepperoni & mushroom) and it was toasted dark brown.
I’m thinking it was just a bad night until we checked out. Turns out it’s NOT TONY’S any more. The founder (Tony) ran the business and then the daughter took it over and the family had pride and made sure it was the same great pizza for decades. Around 2 years ago, the family sold it off and now it’s different owners, new culture, and definitely not staying true to their heritage.
If you’re in the mood for mediocre/bad pizza, go to the grocery store, buy frozen, and save your money. Tony’s has...
Read moreHORRIBLE service tonight! I have gone to Tony’s for years, and each time I ask myself why I keep coming back because the service is terrible every time. (If the pizza wasn’t so good, I wouldn’t come back.) Take out or dine in doesn’t matter. The employees are rarely friendly, scowling, and it seems like they are understaffed all the time. We got our food quickly, but once the food came out we never saw our waitress again. She never came to check on us. After 20+ minutes of waiting for our check and a box (and her repeatedly walking past and ignoring us) I finally had to leave my four kids and go to the counter to ask for my check. I asked if that was normal procedure and was told no, and the counter clerk shrugged me off like I was the inconvenience. I tried being patient and waiting as I noticed she had larger tables but to continually ignore me and walk past me when she could clearly see we were waiting and ready to go was just bad customer service. Unfortunately this isn’t the first time it’s happened. As mentioned, I have yet to have a positive employee interaction from start to finish here....
