This is a small Korean restaurant with a small menu and big flavor. I ordered the Tuesday appetizer, Kim Bop, which are Korean rice rolls filled with grilled beef, pickled radish, shredded cucumber and carrot, and scrambled egg. It was served room temperature. There was plenty of filling. I noticed the rice was a pleasant shade of pink. I think that red beans must be cooked with the rice. It is very unique! I also had japchae. Japchae is sweet potato noodles with cabbage, onions, carrots, and more grilled beef. It was topped with sesame seeds and I also, I believe, sesame seed oil. This dish was served hot. Both dishes were delicious oh, and I would eat here again.
My server was very pleasant. The restaurant is very clean , as is the restroom and entrance area.
The dining room holds six 4 top tables and one 6 top table. The outdoor dining area allows for more diners. However I would avoid Ko Ga Ne when it is busy, as the food was slow to come out; I imagine the wait would be even longer if all of the tables were full. I waited 20 minutes for my food even though the two other tables which had arrived before me were already eating.
I do recommend Ko Ga Ne, but it would be best to eat here at the beginning or the end of dinner hours when they are less busy. If you must dine during peak hours, bring a book or someone to...
Read moreThe food here is absolutely fantastic. The beef and noodles and spice all perfect. The service was a bit sloppy. The waitress was slow to bring out our waters and struggled to refill them. The nail in the coffin though was she brought out the wrong dish due to some confusion. The dish we ordered was the mild rice cakes with beef however we did not see it was only served on Mondays. The waitress neglected to inform us of this difference and instead brought out the spicy rice cakes with no beef. We asked the waitress for the clarification due to the difference and when she returned to the kitchen we could tell there was quite a bit of confusion and possibly frustration on their part. This was a complete mix up due to miscommunication and resulted in embarrassment for all parties involved. My party was especially embarrassed as it seemed we just couldn't handle heat because when they brought out the correction it was the same dish as the last just less spicy. We also were saddened to have embarrassed or gotten our waitress in trouble because we didn't see her again the rest of the evening. Besides the mixup though we would recommend people visit, just read the menu carefully! The food...
Read moreIt's hard to find good food in Utah. Most places you can get decent food, or just people who don't have taste buds think it's good. This place is one of the good places. Finding good Korean food has been hard and places are scarce. We've found a good sushi place (Ohana), a good taco place (no manches), and good burgers (Burley). We have a new favorite to add to the list and this place didn't disappoint. They were out of the fried pork belly, but the Bi Bim Bap (with beef bulgogi), Japche, and short ribs were on point. I haven't had good Korean food like this outside of Seattle/Bellevue area. We are pretty picky about our food, and have had plenty of friends tell us that certain places are good, but they haven't lived up to the hype. I would say go here if you want great food. Even have the purple rice!! That's white rice and black rice cooked together makes the white rice little purple. The flavor is so good. Completely satisfied and will be one of our regulars. Should taken pictures, but it smelled so good on the car ride home all we wanted to do was eat.
Thanks for a...
