Read moreFood and drinks were tasty and enjoyable (fries were thick and perfectly cooked, nothing to complain about the shrimp tacos--everything exactly as I ordered; drinks are are served quickly in plastic cups with lids and straws; margarita wasn’t too sour and mango daiquiri wasn’t syrupy)… food gets a 5, but the restaurant gets a 4 because the food took an hour from the time I got in line to order, and the line only took 5-10 minutes (the line to order food wasn’t as long as I expected on a Sat. night).
Parking took 10 minutes and was a headache, so I dropped off my elderly mother and then parked on the other side of the trailer park and walked.
Our server was extremely nice (but didn’t speak much English), staff was friendly and happy; tables were cleaned quickly and it was crowded. The tables are basic and not comfortable – the only comfortable chairs were so low that you couldn’t see the view, but we got up and looked at it periodically to take photos of the beautiful sunset. The dining area is all outside, covered, where you can sit by the parked boats and watch the sun set over the water. You can wear your swimsuit or shorts and feel comfortable. The tables by the water are partly in the sun, so when it’s hot, you’ll want to sit away from the view and in the shade.
Something happened in the kitchen because they made an announcement to everyone in line that food would take 45-60 minutes. I had already ordered mine, so I thought I was in the clear, but no. At least we had fun talking to other customers and had a good time. The atmosphere there is relaxed and friendly, but I was unhappy with the choice of rap music near...
Read moreThis was our family's first stop in South Padre after seeing Mahi Nic's on a Youtube Texas Bucket List video. Hands down a MUST go to!! The atmosphere is perfect...on the water with outside seating and a beachy feel. Nic and his staff were friendly and very welcoming. Wait time was expected to be 1 hr but our food came out quickly and was nothing like I've ever tasted. With 7 of us, we all got something different and EVERYTHING was fresh, hot, cooked to perfection and delicious. Mahi Tacos were amazing and paired with 2 delicious sauces, the 8 mile burgers came with 2 loaded regular burgers and a side of fries perfect for splitting and the Signature Mahi Mahi sandwich was out of this world phenomenal. For someone who sticks to salmon and tuna, this is my new favorite fish. The bun was perfectly buttered and toasted and sandwiched in between was a large piece of flaky, Cajun seasoned delicious Mahi with lettuce, tomatoes, onions and mayo. On the side, creamy and tangy coleslaw with a pile of the biggest and longest hot and salty crinkle fries! My boyfriend got Adobo seasoning on his fries which added the perfect amount of kick. Also, I can't forget their frosty lemonades, perfect for a hot and humid days. There are many things that will be remembered and missed feom our trip and our experience at Mahi Nic's is at top of the list. Thank you Nic and his staff for creating such a beautiful and tasty memory for our family. Keep up the...
