Venus Spa — Local services in South Padre Island

Our party was for 6 people. Myself (bride) and 5 bridesmaids. Of the 6 of us that had our makeup done. Only one was half way pleased with her make up. The older lady that did my sister’s make up seemed inexperienced and frankly, uninterested in getting the job done decently, as per the picture my sister provided . The other younger lady doing makeup also seemed to not really know how to match and blend foundation.She produced a very department store amateur makeup look. My MOH only kept the eyes because the rest of the makeup made her look washed out and didn’t match appropriately. My last bridesmaids declined getting her whole face done because of the results of everyone that went before her. I, the bride, had the wrong color foundation sprayed all over my face with poor contouring and blending. So on my Wedding day, I had to rush back to the resort and wash my face; just to have to rush and do my own makeup before going down to the beach to get married.

I’d rather there be honesty about the level of experience with doing makeup with diverse skin tones. If the experience is lacking, then just say so. No harm no foul, just don’t let someone waste their money.

Then there was the swapping of brushes, cross contamination and lack of sanitation with the Make up and applicators and brushes. Yes, they are my family but all of us have different skin; so sanitation is still Important.

The ladies were nice but as a group with 3 professionals in the skin and beauty profession (Branding Management, Aesthetician, Professional makeup artist and Skin/Beauty Wellness) we were expecting a better caliber of makeup experience. All but one of us, didn’t even feel the makeup was worth the money...

Terrible decision to go to this place . We arrived Thursday night to south Padre island and Friday morning we just want to get a manicure ready for our weekend vacations, we find this place my bad part was not reading the reviews, we ended making the appointment by 11:00 am just for my daughter and her friend, good thing I had to get some thing done that day …….. other hand I would have the bad experience too. When my husband get there to drop them off my daughter and her friend where very excited looking for a relax day to get their nails pretty and done . After a 3 hours they call me to pick them up and when we get there my daughter was about to cry for the terrible job they did to her nails . And they charge them each of the girls 80.00 dlls for a horribles nails . We didn’t have time to go back and complain because my daughter was so embarrassed about it. And she jus want it to forget and enjoy her rest of the time in the beach. They need more training to make a bette nail job...

Came in as a walk in to get a full set and was hoping for a gel set. Everyone was sitting at their desks eating and the one lady said I know it looks like we are all sitting around but the one person that does gel sets is not available right now. I say ok how about a full arcrylc set? She states no the only way we would do it if it was your own nails no gluing nails. I say no that’s not what I’m looking for you are telling me no one can do a full set and this is a nail salon? I know walking In was last minute and was willing to come back but she said no one could do it. I said I was going somewhere else and she was asking a lady across the room oh you can do it? I still did not want to give them my business with that nonsense plus I don’t want to sit there while your employee feeds her face. It was a blessing because I found an awesome place to do my nails...
