Acapulco Tropicana Bar & Grill — Restaurant in South River

Stopped in here on the way to starland needing something fast and easy to eat. It was about 6:00 p.m. on a Sunday, wasn't busy at all but there was some people in there playing pool.

Upon walking in it didn't look like this is the kind of place that 'grills' and serves food. This is mostly a bar barely a grill.

There is a little convenience store shelving area of interesting necessities for sale. A large pool table area and a few scattered informal tables. Also a huge bottled beer selection with plenty of Mexican favorites.

Was greeted immediately by friendly staff and we sat at the bar. We had to question whether they really served food. Then asked to see a menu. Decided to stay.

The servers/bartenders were extremely friendly and attentive. There was some language barrier it seemed but manageable. The atmosphere is local dive bar like. The dining area is very informal and doesn't even seem like a dining area, more like a couple dirty random cocktail tables or something.

The menu is limited Mexican fare with some other things like burgers and cheesesteaks and chicken sandwiches . We ordered a burrito and tacos. Water and coke.

The food arrived relatively quickly and looked good. Also, the food was prepared in an authentic way. The portion size was not very generous. Both dishes came with a side of this amazing habanero hot sauce. If it wasn't for the hot sauce I would have been very disappointed with the meal. We both enjoyed our dishes.

Everything was overpriced, $5 water, $5 coke, $15 burrito, $15 three taco. It wasn't a surprise though, the prices were clear on the menu.

Visited this location, for I was hoping to enjoy some good Mexican food on a Friday night, around 7pm with my partner. (We're new in town) Parking was available, many of them.. we walked inside and every customer in sight just stared at us as if we had 4 heads, not one staff member on site for about 5 minutes so we approached the person behind the bar who didn't even bother to acknowledge our presence for even more time. Place looked run down, didn't even smell like there was food in there which surprised me, because online it seems more like a restaurant and their menu options looked amazing. Maybe we went on a bad day? Maybe their just good for take out? Not sure.. but it was very disappointing and I always love me some...

amazing service security felix is a fun guy always on point and he even plays some pool with us great guy definitely...
