After the experience today and seeing the list of consistent health code violations (for the same thing more often than not--absence of safe food storage and handling) I will not be patronizing this establishment anymore and strongly advise others not to as well until they take this seriously. If you review the county website these violations go back years and clearly have not been remedied. Today's issue was numerous hairs in our food and rude and careless handling of the issue by staff and management. Waited in the drive thru 15-20 minutes for our food, only to get home and find numerous hairs wrapped around my sandwich and it's interior. When we took the time to go back and try to speak with them to manager replied he didn't have time and let another staff handle it, too which she and he replied they don't care that the absence of hair nets or caps is disgusting and a major health code violation. They claim to have refunded my money, but the charge is still pending so we will see. No staff had any kind of protective hair covering, one actually had her hair hanging over her shoulders into the food she was preparing. This was not the first rude interaction at this establishment so I just shouldn't have come back, but I hoped it was a one-time issue. It is a shame as I thought this was a family-owned restaurant, but they do not care about their customers or their safety. Take a look for yourself at the county website. Unfortunately, some business owners will not take something seriously until there are real consequences, so please do not eat here until they take food preparation and safety seriously. This is not a game. Always check your food, because they will not. They do not care about you, this is not a family-friendly establishment if it is not safe. I hope the owner is able to turn this around and have a decent restaurant again, but if that was him there today it is all a joke to him. Your health is a joke to him and his employees. Please go somewhere else.

Anyone from utah already knows how good astro burgers is, however this restaurant in particular shined above the rest. For some reason every other Greek burger place in the valley lately has been both slow and subpar in terms of food quality, I am saying this not because i hate these establishments but rather because i love them, I know they can do better. And this Astro Burgers is proof of that. Not only did they have my food ready in less than 5 minutes, but the quality of the food was par excellence as well. It is not as though I simply ordered fries and nothing else. Rather, I ordered a pastrami burger, as I would do at every other Greek burger joint. The burger was not overly soggy or weighed down by excess toppings. It was appropriately sauced. Beyond that, the pastrami used on the burger was clearly of superior quality compared to some other Greek burger resturaunts. In addition, the fries they sold were not thin, soggy, and unevenly cooked. Rather, they were thick, crispy, and uniform, beyond that they were unusually long, which was a pleasant surprise. Their drinks were standard. To add to my own culinary experience, apparently, according to my partner, their gyros were very good and better than most other Greek burger gyros. At the end of the day, this Astro Burgers stands with greater posture and pride than most other Greek burger restaurants in the valley, I would recommend dining here.

I had the chicken kabob here recently. The chicken was okay but not that great. I ordered the dinner plate and I thought it came with Fries and rice so I exchanged the salad and they just gave me french fries. Maybe they don't have rice. While I was eating a male employee sat right behind me leaned over the seat and coughed until I had to get up to move!!! I guess he had to play with the the TV that was hanging above and turn the volume way up. So I moved to a different seat and I barely got done eating and more employees followed and decided it's time to scrub the seats! They are very inconsiderate of customers. Also none of the employees don't seem to speak English so it's a struggle to get them to understand. Food was not very good. Bad employees. Food is overpriced. Crown Burger is better. I won't be back.

Update 2/24/2023 Astro is still serving up delicious food. We still love coming here...and I love the grilled cheese & Fish & Chips dinner-- I usually get those for Fridays (meatless options) although their burgers are also some of the best around right next to Crown Burgers, another Greek owned restaurant😊👍🇬🇷 The ONLY issue I have had to date was a couple of months back in late December 2022 or early/mid January 2023. Late one evening, we placed a big drive thru order that was almost $90 and they tried to give us a bag of 6-7 orders of fries that were ALL BURNT. All the fries were hard and burnt to hell. Because of our big family, I always try to check everything before we drive off, because I don't want to come back. Thats when I saw that they gave us a bag of super burnt fries. So when I asked for the orders of fries to be replaced before we left, the lady working drive thru acted like I was asking for free food or something. We just didnt want to eat hard, burned fries with our burgers. She was so rude about it that my son was about to say "Forget it, we'll take the burned fries." I told him--"No, we've spent almost $100 on food, theres no way we're just going to take these very hard, burned fries." Her attitude COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. I was surprised by her behavior because the employees at Astro are usually so nice. However...I told her we would wait and that-- Yes, we would need new orders of fries. As someone who's ate at Astro since I can remember AND worked there as a teenager in the mid 1990s, I think I know what a bag of "normal Astro Burger fries" look like. It was just absolutely ludicrous that this lady AND the cook tried to pass off a batch of badly burned fries onto my family...THEN get mad when I asked for a new order of fries that WEREN'T burned. I just couldn't believe that this lady would continue to try and make me take that bag of burned fries for my family🙄 When I worked at this same Astro Burgers years & years ago-- more than 25 yrs ago....there were a couple ppl who asked for their fries to be "crispy" once in a great, great while. That meant a few extra secs in the fryer, but even then-- they weren't burned when they came out. But those "crispy fry" orders were extremely rare and i have NEVER asked for that since I am always happy with how their fries normally are. In addition-- when we go go Astro, we are spending anywhere from $60-90 on food for our family, so having someone give attitude when I ask for a replacement of fries that "aren't burnt" is not acceptable. Its not like I asked for all my burgers to be replaced?! It was the fries that were burned.. not the sandwiches/burgers. Despite this, we have went back a few times since that incident, and I haven't had any additional issues with the food or with drive thru orders.. but it still irks me that this particular drive thru lady tried to pawn off that burned food order onto us-- thats the only reason I have decided to mention it in this review. I'm sure the cook just wanted to re-warm up some fries in the fryer and they burned. And being so close to closing, they didnt want to make another batch and toss the burned ones. BUT, I didn't pay for burned food, and I especially did not pay THAT much for burned food... so that wasn't my issue or problem because I didn't pay for a big order of burned fries🤷‍♀️ Other than this ONE time, we've had very good food & service from Astro and love their breakfasts and dinners. I especially love to sit down for breakfast at Astro, although I usually take it to go. If you haven't ever got one of their Breakfasts, you need to do so. Their breakfasts are way better than many restaurant, and a hundred times better than IHOP or Dennys, plus less expensive. I hope that Astro Burgers will be around for many more years to dish up delicious food for this area of the valley😊 Our family loves their food, myself especially.

astro is thee best!! they make delish food and the breakfasts are the bomb!! our little family loves this restaurant and we always come...

To the owner of Astro Burgers on State Street and 3900 South in Salt Lake City...

Last night, my son went to your establishment for dinner. I was involved at a baby shower for my daughter, so he also tried to get a meal for me. They were out of gluten free buns, but offered to prepare a lettuce wrap. Cool... no problem, just need it safe and gluten free. My son, who has worked in the food industry understands celiac needs and the risks from cross contamination, witnessed the cook place the hamburger patty on the grill in the same location where they warm the gluten containing buns and cook the pancakes. Gah!!! He asked to speak to your manager because he understood that this would be a huge problem for me. Well, your manager decided to YELL at my son. He asked why he didn't call the worker out for the mistake instead of involving the manager. He told him not to come back if this is going to continue to be a problem. Well, since this is always going to be a problem for me (I'll never be able to safely consume gluten again) I guess we're at an impasse.

Wow! Just... wow!

My son was so upset, and actually, so am I. YOU claim to be gluten friendly, yet are offended when asked to adhere to gluten friendly practices and yell at the customer for it? And since when is it the customer's responsibility to train your employees? If you claim to be gluten friendly, then please don't serve food contaminated with gluten when we asked you not to. (This has happened more than once... in your establishment.) Train your own employees to not cross contaminate my food so that I don't get sick!

No problem sir... we will not be eating here again. But rest assured, my memory is long, and my pen is sharp. We will be sharing this review on social media, the Find Me Gluten Free app, and on your website so everyone will know how you REALLY feel about accommodating your customers with needs (which YOU claim to accommodate). And I hope others who need the same service will choose to avoid your establishment as well. This is no joke. My life is forever changed due to the damage done by celiac disease. I don't need your careless employees, or your nonchalant attitude to ruin me further.

I'd tell you to have a nice day, but I can only do it with the same sincerity with which you provided me a gluten free...
