MIDDLE EASTERN PASTRIES, BAKERY & GROCERY — Restaurant in South Salt Lake

First, I'm going to agree with everyone who says the baklava is delicious. It truly is amazing and there are several variations to try. The store is fairly small but it's packed with many ethnic food choices that would be hard to find in a normal grocery store (there are also several things that you WOULD find at a normal grocery store, like tahini, which make this a good one stop shop if you are making a middle eastern recipe). The lady who we spoke with (I believe she is the owner) was very friendly and had a good sense of humor - a real pleasure to speak with. She makes all the baklava in house on a daily basis. The flat bread is made daily in house, as well and I assume she does that, too (although it could be another employee). At any rate, she was very helpful and if it's your first time in, she'll give you any recommendations you may be looking for. The sign out front says they do pizza here, too. I'll have to come by another time...

Amazing would be an understatement. I just happen to see this quaint little bakery headed to 3300 S on Main St. I love good food and also love to try things that are different. Sarkis the manager has a nice display of assorted foods from the Middle East. My husband got a jar of Fig Jam and a pistachio cake. How often do you see that in a grocery or bakery. She also has an assortment of bread made right there. Everything is made fresh. Now to the bakery. The BEST baklava I have ever had, which is a lot. We also got this rolled up pastry filled with real cream that she makes herself. Heaven!!! She sprinkles grounded up pistachio nuts on top. Want a treat, stop here and you will be glad you did. We definitely will...

I am updating my review from 5 stars to 1 star. This establishment was once my top choice for baklava due to its superior quality, cleanliness, customer service, and atmosphere. Unfortunately, all of these aspects have significantly declined recently. A recent interaction with a team member led to misunderstandings, which were exacerbated by the new owner’s unprofessional behavior. I had previously recommended this place to my friends, hoping they would become regular customers, but due to this experience, I will no longer be a patron, and I will advise my friends to seek...
