Uncaring Customer Service! I purchased a $3300.00 used deck oven from them that was posted on KSL with the understanding that I had no place to put it until we secured a spot for our cafe. They were very accommodating in allowing us to store it in their very large warehouse. A week after purchase, we went to the warehouse to physically see the oven. It was in the warehouse with a "Sold" ticket on it with our name. This was the second week in April, 2018. About mid-June I called and informed them that a friend of mine would be picking up the oven and the guy I talked to said ok. He acted like he was familiar with the oven and I thought all was good. When my friend arrived at the warehouse, he was told the oven wouldn't fit on his trailer. He wanted to see the oven to confirm. At that point he was informed that the oven was no longer there. My friend called me, told me that my oven was gone and then he passed the phone to an employee that informed me that my oven had been sold. Yes, they sold an oven that I purchased. When I asked why, I was told that they thought I didn't want it anymore. No one called to ask me if I still wanted the oven that I had paid for, nor did they call and insist I get it out of their warehouse. They just sold something that no longer belonged to them. They also didn't call to tell me they had sold my oven, nor did they refund my $3300. I'm not sure if they thought I had just forgot about it and they would keep my money or what. Very sketchy business practices no matter the case. The only response I got at that time was an offer to purchase a crappy pizza oven for $100 that needed $500 of repairs to make it work. I as shown a picture of a conveyor (not a deck) oven that was sitting outside and looked trashed. Hardly a comparable replacement.
After the debacle, their effort to resolve the issue was far from adequate. They wouldn't return my calls and everyone I talked to acted like they had no idea what happened. After going up the ladder of management, I finally got someone to act like they cared. He said he would try and find an oven that was comparable and even offered to sell me an oven at cost. He promised to call that evening or at the latests, the next morning. He never called. I went even higher up the ladder and got a hold of a district manager. I asked him about my refund and if they were going to find me an oven. He told me that he had a guy working on it and I would hear from him. Finally, it seemed as though I got someone's attention. In fact, they even processed a refund but only after I asked several times. I did get a call from a guy name Juan. Juan just happened to be the guy who sold my oven out from underneath me. He apologized and really, he seemed genuinely sorry. This still didn't change the fact I was out an oven. Juan said he would try to find me an oven and told me that they don't sell items to people at cost, but he would give me a good deal. A day later I received a quote for 3 brand new ovens that I could have gotten cheaper online with free shipping. He also said he had a line on a used oven and that he'd get back to me. He never did. In fact, I have never heard from them again, and this is July 9th, 2018. The proper resolve to this issue would have been to go to the people that they resold my oven to and ask for it back. Instead of handling this the right way, they basically neglected me and treated like they didn't care at all. In return, they get this crappy review and a guarantee that I won't ever buy another item from them even though I have a full restaurant to equip with kitchen appliances, small wares, and furniture. I was in the store for a vacuum. Looking on the shelf on my own not completely sure what I wanted but had an idea. An older man in a nice suit walked up to me and asked “did you find what your looking for?” I said “I think so” feeling guilty because I could see that he was in no way dressed for the occasion and he looked like he was definitely on his way to do something much more important than help a customer. He began lifting boxes down off the shelves telling me all about each of the different items. I told him I was ok and could get another person to help me. He even stopped and said “there’s one we have that’s even better in the back, I’ll see if I can get someone to pull it for you.” Feeling guilty I immediately said “oh no, these are good” he immediately responded. “We need to bring it up here anyways.” He left and came back after a few minuets carrying a box in a suit and all. With a little dust on his suit jacket. I saw one of the salesman walk past and kept looking at me. I felt uncomfortable like I had totally put this important man way out of his way. He stayed and helped me till I was done. He even directed me to a few other items on my list. At checkout the cashier said “did you find everything okay? did anyone help you?” Before I could respond the salesman that was watching me said “Ellery” I haft to say he had the best customer service I have ever experienced!! He didn’t hesitate to help me even though it was clear he was heading into or just out of a meeting. Not only is the customer service terrible (I have taken years off my life waiting for them to find things "in the back") when you do run into issues they are flat out rude. I own a cupcake shop, which has been featured twice on the Food Network, when I asked if they carried another type of cupcake box they told me "the other cupcake shops seem to like these just fine, and they order a lot more from us than you do.". Way to turn on the charm Standard! When I finally was all checked out I realized they had miss charged me, they had charged me too little for my purchase. I struggled with whether or not to just not tell them, after all they had been extremely rude and inefficient, but I determined I should tell them about the error and pay the difference. Well, I did not get the reaction one would expect in this scenario, after more issues with them understanding the pricing of their product, rude comments, more time wasted, I left the store empty handed. Sorry, I expect to be treated better by a business I spend thousands of dollars at every year.
