R&F mart wholesale & retail — Local services in South Salt Lake

For background information, my family is from Japan and we always look for the closest taste we can to Japan. These are my thoughts on this place.

Stock - 2 stars: Now this is where I have some negative feelings. A lot of the fish that is not sold under a brand name or is wrapped in 2 or 3 is very limited. Also, some of the noodles I bought were nearly 2 years past the expiration date. I did not notice until after I got home. I have seen expired items still on the shelf at other Asian Markets, too, so I don't think it was intentional. Bulk Buy - 5 stars: I love the fact that we can buy ingredients here in bulk. We go through base ingredients for Japanese cooking rather quickly. Nice to be able to have that option here. Selection - 4 stars: Quite a large selection of items to buy here. But it is a little hard to find what you are looking for. Location - 4 stars: To get here, it is easier to use the not-so-busy road. It is in fact next to another large Asian Supermarket, but hey, I think that is pretty common for businesses to be set up next to one another. This location has a different appeal, anyways. Cleanliness - 3 stars: The store itself appears to be very clean but it is also quite new. The freezers where the non brand name fish is sold on the other hand could be better maintained. Service - 4 stars: Overall, I got smiles and nice greetings walking around here with my family.

Overall, I do plan to come back. But that issue with the expired noodles is what gets me. I got a little sick that day I ate the noodles. But, I did prepare them in a bit of a different manner than normal. Still, when I noticed they were expired, I wasn't happy. I will just be careful next time with checking the...

R&F Mart in Salt Lake City has quickly become my go-to spot for Asian groceries. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Every time I visit, I’m amazed by their large assortment of products — everything from my favorite instant noodles to fresh seafood and produce. It’s like discovering a new hidden gem on each trip! The value for money here is incredible, especially with their bulk options, which makes stocking up easy and affordable.

But what really makes R&F Mart special is the staff. They’re always so friendly and eager to help, whether I need a recommendation or can’t find an item. Their warm welcome and genuine service make every visit feel personal, like shopping with friends who are happy to share tips and the latest deals.

You should definitely check the “prices” before paying here and CHECK YOUR RECEIPT. This particular item was advertised with a SIGN NEXT TO THE PEODUCT at the price in the picture but when you take it to the register it was 39.95 about 12 Dollars more.

Went to the cashier and person in charge to talk about it and showed him that there was a mistake and a price difference and his answer was I can give you five dollars off. There was always an excuse; it is an 8” or a 9” and there is not even any price SIMILAR OR MATCHING on the sign for any of the items advertised. WE EVEN GOT AN EXACT REFERENCE FROM THE PICTURE AT THE SAME PRIZE with the same unhelpful answer.

Honestly, this place just will take advantage of you in your face and it’s better go next door to Chinatown plaza and save yourself...
