I actually come here more than I would like to admit, to the point where some called me a regular, and my girlfriend and I are amongst one of the top visitors on Yelp.
However, I would say, the reason I am giving this a 1 star review is because, every time I've gone in the passed month, the customer service has become worst, and the drinks have become sloppier with their Vietnamese coffee no longer tasting the same.
Today, I had ordered a Vietnamese coffee and decided to buy groceries next door. I had accidentally dropped my coffee to the point where only the straw touched the ground and the cup had a crack on the top. I decided to go back to see if I could possibly have another straw and maybe a new cup but after a long interaction with the staff I was asked, if the cup falling down was their fault? I had answered no, it was my fault, I just want to know if I can get a new straw or cup. I was told since it wasn't the staffs fault that they couldn't do anything. Instead, I had to purchase a whole other Vietnamese coffee for a new straw. I ended up not buying a new coffee, I had to talk to someone else to see if I could get a new straw and the barista in the back was kind enough to hand a new straw. During the process, the same woman came back out from the back to double check if the barista wasn't making me a new drink.
I think this is a little ridiculous, in fact, I can't understand why a straw would cost $6 to begin with. The staff is constantly rude when there isn't any part of the ownership present in the bakery. In fact I've noticed the staff give hard time to a bunch of customers and provide a lot of attitude when asking for an extra straw or even spoons/forks when there aren't any available to grab.
To give the benefit of the doubt there are still great people who work there, but I highly advise to only go on busy days like the weekend, because thats when the best of the staff work, who provide so much better customer service and don't try to ruin your day any chance they get.
I hope this bakery can fix this issue, especially since they just had opened in the...
Read moreWas a little hard to find, but very glad I did. It was busy and they did seem to be out of things or running low on a lot of the packaged goods, but someone was running around restocking as we were there. They had lots of choices, but I would look at their website and decide what you want beforehand as nothing has descriptions at the cafe. Keep in mind not everything on the website will be in store. They provide a tray for you to hold all our choices on, which is nice but a little awkward. I wish there was some kind of "line" so people weren't going each way running into each other. The checkout line was long, but went very quickly they had lots of staff and multiple registers. *The first thing I tried was the strawberry cream square, and this was heavenly. The strawberries tasted fresh, it was the fluffiest cake I have ever had in my life. The whip cream was sweet and had a nice vanilla flavor. My only regret was sharing this with my husband, I could have ate both! *The White Chocolate Strawberry Bread was also really good! It was nothing like I expected it to be, but it was a very very soft bun with some sort of strawberry cream filling and white chocolate chips. Wish it had more filling as it was mostly empty. Loved the texture of the bread. *The sugared cream cheese brioche was good, but lacking compared to the other things I tried. Soft bread with dollops of cream cheese. The chunky sugar crystals add a nice crunch and sweetness. *The Cream Cheesecake was disappointing, but only because I was expecting a classic cheesecake. It was still good, the fruit was fresh and it looked so pretty. Along with the packaging it would be a great gift. It was very dense and crumbly, it didn't really have a defining flavor. The cake on the bottom was not good. Very dry. Tasted almost like a wafer cracker. The fruit was incredibly fresh and tasteful, and I was impressed the apple didn't seem to go...
Read moreThe best bakery I’ve been so far in SLC.
The prices are ok but if you compare them with the prices of other bakeries in the area or the other one that’s inside of Chinatown then you can see that they’re actually good.
All the bread and pastries I’ve tried have been mouth watering tasty, and the drinks have been spot on.
The only thing that I didn’t like so much is that none of the staff so far has been precisely kind, they all look like they don’t want to be there, but I could let that slide since service is not what I’m there for, just thought I had to mention it.
The bread/pastries and drinks are a 10 for me, they’re amazing on that aspect!. Only other reason I don’t give them 5 stars on the food category is because while their sweet breads are amazing, their cakes and other pie/mousse dessert stuff are not that good, they kind of lack flavor and aren’t as sweet as they look, some of them even being a tad dry.
The Tiramisu which is supposed to be strong on the coffee flavor barely tastes to anything else other than cream.
The Red Velvet cake is dry and could only taste cream cheese.
The Strawberry cakes have been a little dry and not so flavorful.
I know that sounds awful but it isn’t that bad, and because the other stuff that they sell it’s REALLY amazing, it is difficult for me to give them anything below a 4 star rating. I love them and they will still be my go to bakery but they could truly benefit from some customer service training and not being afraid to add a little bit more flavor and sugar to their...
