It was a grave disappointment from my previous experience eating here, definitely subpar. Never again. Apparently, it's under different ownership and nothing like I remember it. My meal was way overpriced and well under quality. I couldn't finish my meal. I had their plate called Eggs Beatriz, which was eggs with Hollindaize sauce and salty crumbles of cooked salmon over spinach and grilled sourdough bread. The spinach was inconsistently cooked, and the sourdough was greasy and soggy in spots. Definitely not to my liking. My grapefruit juice was dilluted. Eggs were undercooked.

The desserts in the display case were of two varieties of muffins occupying one shelf with the others empty.

This place used to be buzzing with lots of customers, but this time, there were far fewer.

By the way, just as my food came, I was called outside by some guy in a glowy green vest to move my car which was parked over a sink hole which I hadn't notice. Thankfully, I was able to move to a better and closer spot. But how weird was that! This was how my Easter Sunday went. I came back to a meal that was barely warm.

I had to go up to ask for the bill. The lady was courteous enough. But I would never recommend this place again. Seven years ago, I gave it a glowing review but have just deleted it into the land of oblivion and...

Unfortunately the service and food quality have steadily gone down while prices have gone up. Here's an example: Scene: me, calling Jo Ann's: [Phone ringing] Jo Ann's employee: "Hello?" Me, wondering if I dialed the wrong number: "Uhh...hi. Is this Jo Ann's?" Employee: "Yes" Me: "OK. I'd like to place an order..." [Gives order] Employee: "OK" Me: "Umm, ok. So how long? 15 minutes?" Employee: "Yes" Me: "Ok, thanks. Bye".

[I then pick up food and take it home, only to discover one of the two items is wrong but now it's too late and too far to go back. Also, what they gave us isn't very good...a very sad salad].

At the very least, y'all need to give your employees a basic script to use when answering the phone. I'll even give you one:

"Hello, thanks for calling Jo Ann's Cafe" [After taking order] "OK, so that's [read order back to customer to confirm it's right]. "Ok, that will take about 15 minutes" [or however long is needed]. We'll see you then. Thank you!"

It's not that hard. Hopefully you all figure it out before it's too late, and you can...

I'm almost mad that I had never been here before now and I've been in South SF almost four years. Walking in, it seemed like there might be a wait because it was packed but the tables move quickly and the counter is a nice option with great service.

The food is your typical brunch fair but also some great burger options. I opted for the Patty Melt burger which was the basic burger on rye with green onions and swiss cheese. This was beyond my expectations from the soft buttered rye bread to the flavorful burger patty that was cooked to perfection.

My roommate got the eggs benedict and a pancake. The pancake was a good old fashioned pancake but the benedict was delicious. (Of course I took a bite!) The hollandaise was just fight and the all of the ingredients just melted perfectly in your mouth.

This place looks like your average diner but tastes like homemade perfection. Consider me your...

Friendly service with a smile. When it gets crowded, service is slower. I try to get here in their 1st hour of operation (8am weekends). Generally, everyone's happy here, including the patrons. Good vibes all around. Their coffee is solid every time. My usual go to is the Joann's special: eggs, choice of meat protein, home fries, fruit salad & choice of toast, scone, or muffin. Today I wanted switch it up & tried the "huevos" for the first time. Poached eggs (2) with 2 kinds of cheese, tomato salsa, chopped ham over tortillas; served with home fries. Ask for the tapatio. Very filling, I couldn't finish it. Would definitely recommend it. (Also, here's a photo of the El Camino Real. I didn't try it myself though.) This time, I found out they are open evenings Wednesday - Friday 5-9pm. I'd like to try out their daily homemade soups!

ok guys, this is a MUST GO TO breakfast spot.... its not fancy like some of the places I post about. But this is by far the best breakfast I've eaten in years. --***-- Nov 13, 2023 They have made some changes, not really good, from a long-time regulars perspective. But the food was good (less of it, but still good). The menu is less than half of what it used to be, most of the burgers are gone. You are now expected to order and pay before finding a table, the place was empty today, but in a busy rush, I don't really want my food getting cold while I find a table to sit at. And, of course, prices on each dish have been increased pretty dramatically.
