I had never ate at Gus' fried chicken. The girl at the front desk was very helpful in assisting me to find a meal for my husband and I to share. So much so that I tipped a total of 8 dollars on a meal that was honestly already out of my budget. I tipped two dollars on my credit card receipt then another cash dollar in the tip jar. She said it would be about ten minutes. I said that's fine as I'm happy to wait for good fresh chicken. Soon as I sat down they called my name. My chicken was ready yay. Then the cashier continued to help me with plates which I greatly appreciated seeing as my husband is over here spending my birthday in the hospital but at least he was not in the hospital on Christmas and that was a blessing. Anyways so I put a five in her tip jar. I left there expecting to get some really good chicken. My husband ate a couple pieces and same as I was not impressed as it seemed quite old definitely itely not fresh. It wasn't even warm. It only took me all of five minutes to get across the street pretty much to the room the we admitted him in at bmh. Long story short they gave me some old ass chicken for my "crazy" old ass. Yes i heard am employee refer to me aa such but im used to name callers as I been around plenty of aholes in my life. Not cool...I dont regret tipping the front desk chick who was kind and helpful but do hate she has to share anything with the bum working there who decided to give me the old chicken. Whoever that may have been is the reason I will never eat here again. Also I will never tip here again. Many people tipping yall now a days? Doubt it as I have worked for tips since 2002 and know how people use mo ey. Being tight as a reason not to tip. At the same time even I tend to not tip at places where the service is quite minimal and not really as deserved as an actual server for example who is not making the minimum...
Read moreApr 28, 2017 🌟🌟 If you can ever get through on the phone, and not be put on hold for 5 to 10 minutes and forgotten about, the reason would be higher. On multiple occasions, I have tried placing an order to eliminate the wait, but almost every time, I am placed on hold and no one ever returns to the call. Then when you hang up, too call back, the line stays busy because they've left the call on hold and no one else can call in...That's a good way to lose business.👎🏾
May 5, 2017 🌟 So I called again today, early mind you, to place an order before they started placing people on infinite hold...now no one is picking up...I let the phone ring for at least 2 minutes...Y'all are fired. 👎🏾
May 16, 2017 🌟🌟🌟 Hoping for a better outcome, I tried calling in early again. This time someone answered and immediately took my order!😀 After placing my order, someone even called me back to let me know my order was ready for pick up!😄 Things are looking a little better. Keep up the good work. 👍🏾
Jul 31, 2018 -🌟 Called in, made order, placed on hold with no one returning to the call...Called back & line was busy...likely because the phone is still on hold...🙄 Called back again...and again...line still busy...Ugh. They need somebody to specifically work the phones. 👎🏾
Nov 30, 2018 -🌟 May as well not have a phone if all you're gonna do is pick up and put people on hold for over 15 minutes...🙄 Then they only have one line, so when they leave you on hold, because they forgot, no one else can call in...piss poor service.
May 14, 2019 - No Star No one is answering the phone today...And they had the nerve to raise prices...Y'all are fired! This has been going on to long. I'm taking my money and business...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Gus's Fried Chicken in Southaven, Mississippi, and it was a finger-licking good experience. This unassuming little gem offers a taste of the South that's hard to beat.
Located in the heart of Southaven, Gus's has a welcoming, no-frills ambiance that sets the stage for the star of the show: their fried chicken. The menu is concise, with the focus squarely on their specialty, and it doesn't disappoint.
The fried chicken at Gus's is simply divine – crispy, perfectly seasoned, and bursting with flavor. The spice blend used in the batter gives each bite a delightful kick, while the meat remains juicy and tender. I opted for the "hot" spice level, and it had just the right amount of heat without overwhelming the palate.
The sides at Gus's are equally praiseworthy. The mac and cheese is rich and creamy, the coleslaw is fresh and tangy, and the baked beans offer a sweet and savory balance. The Southern-style sweet tea was the ideal accompaniment to the meal.
The service was friendly and attentive, making me feel like a valued guest. Prices are reasonable, and portions are generous, making Gus's Fried Chicken a great value.
Whether you're a local or passing through Southaven, I highly recommend giving Gus's Fried Chicken a try. It's the perfect place to indulge in some delicious, soul-warming Southern comfort food. Just be prepared to leave with a full belly and a craving for their fried chicken that's hard to satisfy anywhere else. Jazzy was a...
