Smithfield's Chicken 'N Bar-B-Q — Restaurant in Southern Pines

The worst Smithfield's I have been to by far. Starting off, we went through the drive thru. The lady who was working the speaker obviously sounded like she didn't want to be there. My aunt had never been to Smithfield’s and had some questions. She started asking them and you could tell that the worker was not having it. She cut us off and gave us short answers. By the end of our order, we had nothing read back to us, not even the price. We paid for it at the window and got our drinks (no straws). They told us in a agitated manner to pull up to the curb. We waited for a good 15 minutes with a line behind us before we got our food, still no straws to be found.We asked the lady if we could get some straw for our order in which she scoffed at us for. When we got our straws we pulled off to the side to check, noticing that we had a whole part of our order missing. My aunt then goes back in to check and they rudely told her that they wouldn’t give her anything without a receipt. Which is understandable. We finally got the other part of our order we started eating in which it was soggy and bland. It tasted like the fried chicken had been soaking in water and grease. First time at Smithfields. I got the value pack (BBQ sandwich with coleslaw and fries) and a dozen hush puppies. Great beverage service. Decent BBQ sandwich, not the best Pulled pork I have ever had, but for a quick lunchtime sandwich it met my needs. I wasn't going to get the coleslaw on my sandwich but that ended up being my favorite part, just the right flavor. My coworker got the fried chicken platter and now I know what to try next time.

Only downside... They bring the food to you on a tray and then place the wrapper directly on the table. It was a little odd. I mean I am sure they keep the table clean enough but I like to have my food on top of a tray or a placemat or something instead of directly on the table. Just doesn't seem as sanitary. Give each customer their own tray and you...

As a true southerner. Born and raised here. I was raised on smithfields. And I've had my share of smithfields from all over the state. Came for lunch today was literally one group of people here lol that's it 🤣 it's 12:22 and only 3 ppl here. So ofc I was like oh god it's that bad considering all the reviews I had read. Anyway I got my food pulled pork sandwich with fries. Fries super hott and crispy. Sandwich was good, but it was dry had to keep adding thr vinager sauce to it... not the red sauce idk who would ever put red sauce on pulled pork lol gross. Anyway sandwich was good other than the dryness. Although it has alot of MSG. And I know thos because every time food has alot of MSG my heart goes absolutely insane. But other than that...
