Upon my arrival at Fishbones, with 9 seniors, the manager, Leroy, began immediately telling me about the 20% gratuity and single bill. I was disappointed that he didn't, at least, say good morning or hello. Rude!!!
I still asked Leroy if he would give us separate bills since, clearly, we were the ONLY people in the whole restaurant (for at least an hour). He said No and that that was the policy and walked away. Rude!!!
After asking for a printout of the bill, I calculated each senior's bill and handed them a paper with their amount due. After eating a delicious lunch.....the food was on point, Danielle, the waitress, came over and gathered up all the papers ( with amounts due), cash, and cards from each senior.
A few minutes later, Danielle motioned me over to the cash register to tell me that the total amount of money was short by $30. I asked her if she got everyone's money due and she said yes. She began telling me that she didn't have time for this and that it was my fault that it was short. I told her that I figured out everyone's bill correctly and that it wasn't my fault. She was frustrated and short with me. She told me to take the money and figure it out because she really didn't have time, with a huge attitude.
Danielle came over a few minutes later and began yelling. She was saying that it was my fault and that I didn't handle my job while assisting the seniors. She was loud and obnoxious! I told her to give me time to think. It was clearly her fault that she didn't collect the senior's card for payment. She just went overboard with her reaction to the situation.....very unprofessional and disrespectful!!!!
I decided to return all the seniors' funds back to them and start over. After returning all the papers and funds back to the seniors, we figured out that Danielle had not collected all the seniors' payments. She skipped one senior....so it was her fault. I was busy figuring out the bill for everyone while Danielle was supposed to be collecting their money. I was in the middle of writing out papers and handing them out while she went around to collect the amounts due....like waitresses are supposed to do. Separate bills would have been much, much easier!!!!!!!
She never apologized or admitted her fault in the situation. The seniors would've had a nice afternoon lunch if it weren't for her drama. She needs to find a different profession away for dealing with customers because she didn't demonstrate customer service AT ALL!!! I will never eat at the Southfield Fishbones again!!! From the manager to the waitress, customer service was not present. So sorry that the seniors had to experience the whole ordeal when it was unnecessary. So sad....especially since the food was delicious. I'll make sure that everyone I know will choose another restaurant to spend...
Read moreBeen here a few times and everything was fine but my visit today was not a good experience due to poor restaurant management I won't blame the workers because they probably did what they were told. Reservations at 4:00 for a party of 11 seated, 2 waitress took our beverage an appetizer orders and that's when everything went down hill because we didn't see them again for 40 minutes due to a party of about 40 entering when most servers including ours were assigned to this party, that's when we went from 2 waiters to 0 (POOR RESTAURANT MANAGEMENT) they knew their error because on 3 occasions someone came over to apologize for the delays with excuses and finally took our orders, we patiently sat conversating at this time (5:30 and still waiting while the party of 40 is constantly being served after arriving 35 minutes after us) I went to speak with the restaurant manager who gave me the typical B.S. (bad service) responses (comps, discounts, and free deserts) all I wanted was service. Normally I would leave when this type of service is provided but this was my daughter's choice for her graduation dinner so I endured. To the manager, please learn how to provide quality service to all guests under all circumstances, your workers were nice and pleasant but were put in a position where they couldn't do their jobs properly and if nothing else you should at least apologize to them! I figured having 11 dissatisfied customers is better than having 40 and not as costly to your bottom line, still poor management, not sure if todays visit would deter future visits as this is usually not the case when I've visited in the past but we surely won't forget this visit, just won't be remembered for anything positive. I only hope your errors made today will not be duplicated with future guests, continued bad service eventually turns in to bad results.
Thank...
Read moreIf you thrive in an environment where your manager operates through unfairness, bribes, favoritism, and disrespect, this is the ideal workplace for you. Throughout my tenure in the service industry, I have never encountered a manager who lacked respect for their employees. Every meeting held was characterized by demands made without any willingness to listen to the staff’s suggestions for improving the work environment. Expressing concerns was met with the perception of “complaining” or even challenging established practices aimed at enhancing guest service, which were disregarded and interpreted as disrespectful. While this establishment may not be a traditional corporate setting, it does not preclude managers from managing their emotions, which often leads to shortened workdays or unscheduled absences without explanation. Unfortunately, there are no equitable opportunities, as favoritism is disguised by seniority. Newer employees are often assigned the most arduous cleaning tasks, denied access to banquet parties, and denied training opportunities that could increase their earning potential. Additionally, managers may call certain employees into work, eliminating the possibility for those scheduled to earn money. It is disheartening to witness a restaurant with great potential and a talented staff being managed by an individual who takes their personal inconveniences and burdens on the staff. Furthermore, Michigan residents are well aware that the state has the authority to terminate employment at will. We are constantly reminded of the numerous ways in which our employment can be terminated, making this a challenging environment for those who value job security and stability. Therefore, if you enjoy working in such an environment and have your livelihood dependent on your job, this is undoubtedly the perfect...
